Jsmh This book takes place in 1848 according to the description. One of its top shelves is Regency? No, it takes place 28 years after the regency period ended!

Laura That's true. Although the classification probably means "Regency style of novel" (light-hearted romance set roughly around the regency time, a genre started by Georgette Heyer), rather than the actual "Regency period". I think "Victorian novel" makes you think of Dickens, The Brontes or Wilkie Collins, and it wouldn't be helpful to give that impression of Lisa Kleypas. I love her stories by the way, no offence meant!

Jsmh Regency style makes sense to me. It just bugs me when people call a novel a regency when it takes place a few decades before or after the regency period. You make an excellent point, though!
