Android Central says it's not a good idea:http://www.androidcentral.com/update-...
While I don't agree with them about running out and purchasing a different device, I wouldn't buy this one.
Barnes and Noble started out so promising with the first edition Nook. They really could have been a strong competitor to Amazon's Kindle. Sadly, they never really committed to the e-reader like Amazon did. I have had three Nook devices since that first edition and I will now never get another. Frankly, it doesn't matter how good the hardware is if they don't keep the software updated and they continue to have lousy tech support.I now have the Nook app on a regular Galaxy Tab A and am much, much happier than I have been with either the Nook HD or the Nook Galaxy Tab. I do wish they would make an inexpensive e-ink reader, but that may be too much to hope for.
I really like my Nook HD, have had it for several years. That said, I don't think it matters what tablet you have as long as it can run the Nook app. I also run the Nook app on my laptop and it works really well. The new Nook doesn't sound that great, think I'll wait a few years and then buy a better tablet.

I had purchased the extended warranty, but it had been discontinued and they didn't have a replacement in stock. And, CS put the burden on me to call in every two weeks to find out if they had one. After complaining on their Facebook page and their forums, I finally found someone who offered me the 7" Galaxy Tab Nook. I found that device very frustrating very quickly because it only had 8GB internal storage. That isn't enough to do much.
The whole fiasco with the Nook HD and their terrible support was the end for me with Nook devices.
I started out with the Nook Color and loved it until B&N stopped updating it. Then I switched to the HD and loved it until it started having battery problems and B&N stopped updating it. I have now switched to a Kindle Fire and a 10" Galaxy Tab (non Nook). I think the best so far is the Galaxy tab because I can put several reading apps on it and I'm able to read ebooks from wherever I get them from and I'm not tied to a single format.
I have the Nook HD and like most of you - I love it. I'm not sure that I'm having the battery problem that you all are speaking of unless it that it does not hold a charge for an extended time but I just deal with it. I also thought about getting the New Nook for $49.00 but I went to the store and I don't think it is worth the money - it looks like the Samsung Tab for Nook but the clarity is not as good. I'm also sad that B&N didn't stay with the e-reader business better - I think they could have been good competition for Kindle - I don't want to make the switch from Nook to Kindle!!! If i do - I will go kicking and screaming.
I have the Nook GlowLight and love it. I am currently on my third Nook. I had the original Nook for a few years then upgraded to the GlowLight. I had the second one for five years with no issues. The only reason I'm on my third one is that my daughter lost it. I won't switch to a Kindle anytime soon.
Wow, glad I didn't buy one! Thanks for posting that for us.My new phone is a Samsung J7 and I've been using the Nook app on it. The screen is pretty big and it's nice for when I go to lunch and don't want to take my Nook with me. I also read the Nook App on my laptop with Windows 10.
Since the original malware infected/charger issues were recalled and fixed early this year, did anyone purchase and try out the Nook tablet? It's on sale Black Friday and my Nook HD can't run some of the apps I enjoy (particularly comic apps) so I was thinking about grabbing one for that. Thoughts?
I would get the Samsung NOOK, would not get anything cheaper. It's a great reader and a reasonable tablet.
Whichever one you can afford :-). I would not get the Nook Tablet 7" (non Samsung) because it's cheaply built. I have the Tab A and it's a nice tablet, good deal at $100 right now.https://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/nook...
I got an email that they're phasing out the 1st generation nook so BN sent a 50% off coupon for either the Nook Tablet 7 or the Glow Light. I already have and love my Kobo Aura ONE LE so I opted for Nook Tablet 7.I will primarily use this for video viewing while traveling. The huge expandable memory is going to be very useful. Not to mention the video quality is not bad at all.

with it and use it every day.
Now there is a new Nook Tablet out for $50 at B&N and
I'm thinking about picking it up. It's a little smaller, does
not have HD and does have Android access. Do you any
of you have it? What do you think?
There may be some advantage to the Android access,
for example I have a book checked out on Hoopla
and can only read it on my laptop, app is not available
on the Nook HD.
Is it sturdy? Good resolution?
