Pauline wrote: "That was horrible how they went about closing the business. Disgraceful!"It shocked everyone. Many people were upset about not having time to download their ebooks they had stored there. Over Christmas especially made it difficult as some people were away on holidays and not checking emails. Wish it could have ended better...
Me too. I liked that site. It was easy to use and MM books sold well there. I only get a partial payment for my royalties and it's crappy. AND I only get it if I sign an agreement not to sue. F**k that!

It's only a few dollars, but it's also the principle of the thing...at the same time, I can't afford to sue for a few dollars, it would cost me a heck of a lot more on lawyers and possibly a trip to the US! All for about $70...Luckily AllReBooks wasn't a place I sold many books.

I can totally relate! I hope authors who are owed a larger sum will band together, get their money back, and make a statement to the publishing world.

I think they've banded together - but I've only heard it secondhand. Poor buggers.
I remember when Triskelion went out of business - I was lucky in that I only had one novella and one book with them, the rest were with another publisher. But it all got frozen until the court case went through, and then our contracts went up for bid. Siren Publishing, from memory, bought them and they did a cover letter so those of us who wanted our rights back got them - they were so lovely. But for those who had all their books with Triskelion when it all went pear-shaped, it was a shocking time.
I was lucky at that time to have all my sci-fi romance books with Wings ePress, who always did right by me. But I like self-publishing - when things like this go down, I own my rights and don't have to worry. In some ways flying by yourself is hard, but it's also better in so many ways.
And I did learn two really important lessons - never put all my eggs in one basket, and never believe contracts that state that in case of bankruptcy your rights automatically return to you - that bit isn't worth the paper its printed on!

for anyone who buys books from All Romance eBooks , or distributes their own books through them, you may not have read your email yet - they are closing down on the 31st Dec 2016, their website going 'dark'. If you store/buy any books there you need to download them onto your computer or elsewhere, get in fast.
If you distribute your books there, check your email NOW.
cheers
