Having grown up with multi levels of abuse, I entered adulthood with the need to be loved and to feel worthy. Consequently, I went to the extremes to find such but only became more entrenched in abusive relationships and inner struggles. I wrote this memoir in part for my own healing but also to give hope to others who have experienced similar circumstances. This book is a very honest, personal account of how I eventually was able to reconcile the demons of my past.

Barbara Sala (barbarasala) | 2 comments Hi Isana, reading yur description of Unfinished, I found a lot of similarities between yur book and mine, Insectual. I added yur book to my list of "wanting to read" , so when I welcome new friends on Goodreads I can recommend your book. (I hope this is how Goodreads woks). I knew all my life that I was psychologically abused by my parents, but found out about the sexual abuse only when I was in my forties while in psychotherapy. Insectual is the account of this therapy, as I took notes in my diary. I started to write my story in 1986 and published it in 2015. It is sad but at least 50% of us women have been sexually abused. As I see it today - I am almost 80 years old - this gives us the content of our life struggle: to overcome and possibly to forgive. My book does not give any solutions, but there is forgiveness. I discovered childlike images as they arose during the therapy sessions, and I grew into a primitive naive painter. When sad or depressed I very consciously pick up my brush and just the action of using the brush on my canvas brings healing and joy into my life. I hope you found another outlet which brings yu joy in life. My website is www.barbaranaiveart.com and my blog: www.blog.barbaranaiveart.com. Hope to chat with you in the future. Happy New Year.

Hi Barbara! Thank you so much for your response to my book and adding it as "wanting to read." I too will be adding your book, Insectual to my list - your story sounds fascinating and how you worked painting into your therapy is so unique. I do believe that those of us who have been abused, are never finished our journey of healing; indeed, it is a lifelong process!
I added you as a friend on GoodReads (I think?!) so much appreciated that you will recommend my book. I have to admit that I am really unfamiliar with social media but I am doing my best to incorporate it into a way of promoting my book so I welcome any help I can get! Are you on Facebook? I would like to send you a friend request if possible and would certainly accept you as a friend.
I wish you all the best for 2017 and I am sure that we will be chatting soon!

Barbara Sala (barbarasala) | 2 comments Hi Isana, Social media is not easy. I paid for one year promotion on Twitter, but neve understood Twitter. Now the promotion is finished. I have accumulated 775 followers. Now I found out I can invite all these followers as friends into Goodreads. .....I made two giveaways on Goodreads last year, my book came out in 2015. All these people who wNted the book marked "to read". So my book is on their pages. So soon in the new year I will again arrange a new Giveaway., once I have added the new friends from Twitter. Your Facebookfriends can also be called over to Goodreads or your Twitter friends can be called over to Facebook. .... It is a long process which is not finished in one year or two. It is ongoing. So I just recommended your book to a new Goodreads friend!!! I will do it with the next 5. If yu are on your page at Goodreads, on top the second word is "books". Just click on it and there is a space where you can add books yu are reading or have read. - I am on vacation with my daughter and have nothing to do but study promotion on the Internet in using my iPad. That's why I am so internet friendly. - No the incest feeling of my childhood is not gone. But I can now identify it and see it as a warning. All the best in the new year.

Hi Barbara, Hope you are having a wonderful vacation with your daughter! Thank you so much for recommending my book - so appreciated! I, too, have recommended your book to some of my new "friends" and also purchased yours as an e-book. I am presently reading Ken Follett's, "Winter of the World" (a time period that you would be all too familiar with) and when I am finished reading this lengthy novel, I will read yours.
I am still figuring out how to add friends to GoodReads and Facebook. I strictly want my Facebook page to be professional - I have no use for senseless chatter from hundreds of "friends" but rather want my posts to be meaningful and helpful, hence, I want friends that share the same principles as myself. And of course, I want my book to "get out there" to inspire and encourage others.
I am really intrigued by your background and I feel that if I ever had the privilege of meeting you, our conversation would be amazing. Take good care!
