Kirsten (kmcripn) I've been listening to a discussion of Emerald (Dublin) Noir with Val McDermid and she presents the idea that there is no Catholic noir fiction.

I'm not sure if I believe this. There must be some Catholic authors.

Another idea put out is that crime fiction could not succeed in Ireland until after the Troubles were over. I'm better with that one.

Any thoughts?

Far be it for me to disagree with Val Mac, but I very much doubt the former and the latter applied to Northern Ireland, but not The Republic.
