As Kelly said, this is not a book I would normally choose to read. It is also one of the reasons that I joined this book club. As an adult with a busy life, I get into routines too easily and need to be pushed to expand my thinking. I have to admit, I really did struggle to read this. I was so exhausted after the election and all of the dissent and division in our country. It took a few days stuck in bed to plow through. The premise of a dictator in the US on one hand seems preposterous, on the other hand, in my opinion, the political tension and "sides" of the aisle grow further and further apart. I really think our checks and balances will keep this from happening, but these structures must be kept in place in order. The book examines so many sides of politics, intelligence, and relationships in our country that it really makes you wonder, what's next? Will it come to this? All of this being said, I am going to go dive into a literary snack of some sort of comedy now......
