Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments It sounds like it'll be a good book for the book of the month. I'll definitely be reading it for this month. :)

Sounds like an amazing high-fantasy. I've add it to my to-read-shelf!

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments I was wondering, is it possible that we could read both this book and the other one for the month of January?

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments No, I meant both Falling Kingdoms and Name of the Wind. :)

Charlie (cjr_osado) | 2 comments I have the name of the wind. So I will join in and read it for January. :)

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments Yes, I'm currently reading it and about 60% of the way through. I'm open to discussing it if you want to. I won't spoil anything. ;)

Josie | 18 comments I just finished. Definitely enjoyable, but there were a few somewhat disappointing aspects. Happy to discuss if anyone else has finished!

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments I'm getting close to finishing it. I'm hoping to finish it by the end of today, if you want to discuss it, Josie.

It does take some time to pick up, but you'll see why later on, Jane. The author is setting the stage so that the reader isn't lost later on.

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments I just finished it, so anyone who's ready to talk about it, I am too! :)

Naoé | 361 comments I read it a few months ago but I remember it pretty well if you want to talk about it

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments Sure, I'll talk to it with both you and Jane, Naoé, and anyone else who wants to join. :)

I didn't quite choose a side. It's hard to do so because everyone feels validated in what they're doing. That's one of the things I loved about this novel. It shows how people think they're doing right by protecting the ones they love and thinking anyone who'd hurt them is wrong, regardless of the fact that the one they loved hurt someone else first. The vengeance that both Cleo and Jonas feel is somewhat ironic. I'm very curious to see how this plays out. Although, I do not like the Damora family at all (save for the princess, Lucia).

What side did you choose, Jane?

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments Yeah, the others had good reasons for feeling they way that they did. We didn't get to see too much of King Corvin's character, but he didn't sound like a bad guy. King Gaius sounds like a greedy hypocrite. How can he "hate" magic and have a witch for a mistress? Not to mention that poor Princess Lucia was kidnapped just for his endgame. I hope he goes down at some point in the series cause he deserves it. He reminds me a bit of King Uther from the TV show Merlin.

What did you think about Princess Cleo?

Naoé | 361 comments I really liked her character but if I remember correctly she was kind of a brat at the beginning but she is a really interesting character I think and she lost so much during this book

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments She really did. I felt bad for her by the end of the book too. I have a feeling she's going to turn into a very strong character because of what's happened to her in life. I'm curious to find out how she escapes the castle and King Gaius' clutches.
I wish we'd seen more of the character Emilia, I feel like she had a more interesting backstory than what was eluded to.

What did you think about the character Jonas?

Naoé | 361 comments Yeah I really liked Jonas too he is fighting for what seems is the right thing and he wants to have revenge for everything that happened to him
He is a really interesting character

Okay, I'll make sure to keep things spoiler free. :)

Jonas was an interesting character for me. I sympathized with and liked him the beginning, then not so much in the middle, but by the end of the novel I liked the character once again. He is driven by revenge but seems to have a decent moral compass.
