I love how Kyrin was able to stand up for her faith. I was cheering her on the whole time I was reading! I also love how she wanted to befriend Jace when no one else did. It changed Jace's life to have a friend!
According to your quiz thing, I am most like Kyrin. I can definitely see some similarities. Especially when she doesn't see how much Collin really likes her. I tend to be a bit naive at times. :P
Emily, that's awesome to have you cheering for Kyrin! :) She's been a great character to work with. I wish she was my friend in real life. I've always loved how strong she is, and yet still human and relatable. One of my favorite scenes with her is when she's talking to Daniel and is too afraid to share her faith. It's such a real moment. I know exactly what that feels like and how bad you feel afterward.
Faith, I'm with you there! I've had some, well, interesting experiences when it comes to guys. :P

Jaye, I absolutely loved that scene! It finally showed that characters can make mistakes too... I sometimes feel like they're always so perfect compared to me. I love seeing their growth as the story evolves. But I love Kyrin. I feel much as she did towards Jace. I want to give him a big hug and cheer him up! (Though he probably wouldn't like that) She did that for me, and watching them interact was a blast! She's so compassionate and I love her relationship with her brother also :) She's an amazing person!
I'm glad she came across as both relatable and someone to look up to. That's one of the main things I'm always striving to improve on--writing real characters.
I loved the scene where she talked to Daniel, too. I have definitely been in that situation before, so I knew exactly how she felt. I also always knew how she felt with her headaches. I could easily sympathize with her for that. But my memory is much worse than hers.
I liked Kyrin. But I was always busy thinking “I want to go back to Jace!” whenever we were just with her. :P I don't relate with any female characters really, it's sad. I'm always more interested in what the guy's doing. XD But I liked her, and when she and Jace are together it's just adorable. <3I sort of have a question . . . but I don't want to ask it in case the answer is "no", so no questions right now. XD
Funny, I'm the exact same way. There are very few female characters I truly like in fiction. I'm glad you got to liking Kyrin though. :) And I have a feeling I might know what you're question is. ;)
I just love how persistent kyrin is to help jace in the first book, it's such a wonderful part of the book.
Ruth wrote: "I just love how persistent kyrin is to help jace in the first book, it's such a wonderful part of the book."I agree, Ruth. That, along with so many other parts, is one of my favorite parts of "Resistance".
I agree; I can sometimes find it hard to like girls in fiction, but I really liked Kyrin! Her name is super cool ;)I also really empathized with her when she was reaching out to Jace...I've been going through something similar.
I took the which character are you quiz and I got Kyrin, and I can really see that in some areas - "You’re not particularly outgoing, but close friends and family are very important to you" - YES. Very much true. Same with the whole trying to avoid conflict but willing to take a stand for others. :)
Okay I'm going to do it: Are Kyrin and Jace going to have a romance plot that ends in marriage? (And Jaye, I drew some fan art for Resistance but I have no way to send it to you. . . Maybe Goodread-Message me your email address or I Message you mine? Not sure. My drawings aren't very good but I still want you to see them.)

There's a contact form on Jaye's website. http://www.jayelknight.com/ I don't think you can attach pictures, but it does go directly to her email (I use the same website platform), and she can easily email you back that way so you can send them to her. I'm sure she'll love the fan art, no matter how good it is.

Well, considering I'm a hopeless romantic, it would be hard to have it go any other way. So, yes. ;)
And I would LOVE to see your fanart! If you'd like, I could put it in the fanart section on my Ilyon Chronicles blog: http://ilyonchronicles.blogspot.com/p... But that's up to you. Also, there's an email button in the right sidebar of the blog you can use to email me. :)

YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! Yes yes yes yes yes!!! Jace and Kyrin! YAAYY!! Sorry. I am a completely utterly hopeless romantic. I've been worrying about that ever since I read Resistance. I've been running in to so many people who HATE romance that I was afraid you might be one of them and I might not get my Jace-Kyrin. But I'm so happy now! :DOkay! I'll send it to you as soon as I can. And I'd be honored if you put it on your blog!
Oh, Jaye's a hopeless romantic. I mean, we got our Makilien/Sirion AND Leila/Elmorhirian (Those were their names right ... my brain's actually pulling a small blank.) in her previous series.
I ... umm ... am not sure about promises there ... Jaye does have a bad track record for kidnapping/torturing/starving to death the love interests. They get happy endings ... but it ain't happy to get there.
I can take Jace going through lots of pain and suffering just as long as he's ALLLL okay at the end. Cut off any of his beautiful body parts and you will pay Jaye. XD XD XDHmm I haven't read her other books... I know someone who said Jaye killed off her favorite character in them. That's why I haven't read them. XD
Oh yes, the heroes get it really HARD in Jaye's books. ;) And you should go ahead, Stargazer, and read her other books. I can't recall any character I just LOVED dying. By the third book, you'll know just how HARD Jaye pushes her heroes...

Oh, I'm definitely not one of those people. ;) Do you know how hard it was not to have any romance between them in Resistance? But it was always my desire to establish a close friendship between them before the romance comes in. But yeah, I love romantic relationships. Actually, I have a some couples I never planned to have fall in love. They just decided to have eyes for each other without consulting me . . . *shrugs*
I kind of do push my heroes hard, don't I?

I'm still bubbling over with happiness about this. That might be what I'm looking forward to most. . .Dose Kaden have someone????? =D Or are we not aloud to ask that? XD
I have been wondering about that question, Stargazer... But I think I'd rather have it be kept a secret. So if you do answer, Jaye, give a spoiler warning. :p
What's your favorite color? How do you feel about your future husband owning a wolf?
What's the most annoying thing Kaden's ever done to you?
Stargazer wrote: "How do you feel about your future husband owning a wolf?"I love the wording of this one. :D
My questions for Kyrin:-If you hadn't ended up at Tarvin Hall, what would you have wanted to do with your life?
-What's the hardest part about remembering literally everything? The best part?
-You seem like the type who likes to read; do you have a favorite book?
Do you remember everything that has happened to you since you were born? How far back do your memories go?When you first me Jace, was it love at first sight?
What are your views on purity/boundaries in relationships and how is that impacting your teenage years? What's the silliest thing Liam has ever said to you?
Kyrin, since you're so close to Jace, and you've impacted his life in such a deep way, how do you keep from not just loving him as a brother but falling for him?Or are you actually in love with him deep down (can't imagine yourself loving another guy that way), but just don't think he'd ever approach you with marriage in mind?
Okay, I have a few questions...1. Will Jace and Kyrin's kids be quarter-ryrik?
2. Jaye, what inspired you to write Kyrin's personality to be exactly who she is?
3. Are all ryriks killers?
Jace is half ryrik/ half human and Kyrin is fully human, so...Well, Jace isn't a cold blooded killer.
I hope there are some good ryriks, but I don't really know. (This is the Kyrin thread, though, and I want to try really really hard not to go off topic again. :) )
I do have a question for Jaye and hopefully she can settle a debate between me and my sisters. :) How do you say the "y" in Kyrin? Is it an "i" or an "ee"?
Yeah, their kids would be quarter ryrik. And as for good ryriks . . . I guess you'll just have to wait and see. ;)
Kyrin was actually a very hard character to figure out. Kaden didn't exist when I first started writing Resistance, so Kyrin was all alone at Tarvin Hall and therefore was a bit tougher, and possibly more cynical. She just didn't feel right to me. Well, then Kaden came along to be her protector, which allowed Kyrin to be more vulnerable, which I liked. I wrote a whole character profile for her on the Ilyon Chronicles blog that has more detail about her. http://ilyonchronicles.blogspot.com/2...
And, as for how her name is pronounced, the y has a long "I" sound. :) So it pronounced KYE-rin. Not KEE-rin.

Yay I was doing it right! :D@Tamara: I know, it's always so sad when you sort of know your pronunciation is wrong but you still stick to your first thing and then you learn you really are wrong...
Yeah, I actually do that a lot so it's not surprising. My siblings are usually correct in their pronunciations while I'm way off. It's so hard to correct yourself later too. :(
I actually originally pronounced it right, I guess, but then I thought I was wrong and started pronouncing it KEE-rin....
