So, lack quotation marks - leading conversations with a hyphen. Rachel (who mentioned she will be joining this read later on) does not care for that. Why do you suppose the author did that for this book?
Damnit, I guess I'll have to catch up with you guys because I forgot to grab The Recognitions at the American Library in Paris today. Sounds like a slow start tho...
I believe Gaddis did so to make a natural flow, and also to make the reader pay attention. It continues throughout the novel so pay attention. And I enjoyed the opening of the novel as Gaddis paints such a vivid back story.
I do notice - but in looking back at Part I rather than while reading it - the motif of "Recognitions" but it is still painful reading.
Well, my checkout and renewals ran out at the library. So, they have to send it back to the library it came from and then that library has to send it back. Needless to say it will be a few weeks before I make more progress . . .
Back in business! Just got the book back from the library. No chance I will remember what was going on, so just gonna dive back in!
