March Book Three (March, #3) by John Lewis

I decided that my first book of the year would be something a bit heavy, yet hopeful. If you have not read this trilogy of graphic novels I highly recommend it. I probably wouldn't have picked up a regular book on this topic, just because my TBR list is so crazy. But graphic novels and graphic non-fiction make things much more accessible.

The 1960's were a turbulent time, and it looks like we're headed that way again. The struggle for the right to vote is still a timely topic - the law was there in the 60's, but in some states they went out of their way to deny the vote to many. Congressman John Lewis shares his personal account of the events that led up to the march in Selma, Alabama in 1965. Just 52 years ago, and it seems like so many have already forgotten the history.

Cyndy (cyndy-ksreader) | 231 comments I read Friday the Rabbi Slept Late by Harry Kemelman. I'll read more of this little mystery series. The conversations between the rabbi and the sheriff, while educational about the Jewish faith, are interesting conversations.
