I have a monthly club that meets here in Coronado on the third Tuesday of each month. There are 4-5 of us regulars, plus a drop in every now and then. Right now we're doing a really light read: Wonder by R J Palacio. Other than that, I know there are a few book clubs on Meetup.com that meet regularly.
If you consider yourself geeky then check out the Meetup.com group that I am a part of (and an organizer for)! It is called Geek Girls of San Diego. We have a book club, a graphic novel/comic book club, and a super hero book club. We also host tons of cool events such as hikes, movie nights, parties, writing groups, and crafting events. I participate in the book club & graphic novel club and really enjoy the conversation and camaraderie.
Hey Christine, I've been hoping this group would become active. Hopefully more of our fellow San Diegans are listening.
Hi Jayelle,You asked about local writers groups.

I'm not originally from San Diego but I have spent the better part of my adult life living here. I love this city and am glad to see a group on here for it.
My husband is in the Navy and I'm a former sailor myself. When we met we were both stationed on the same ship. Since then we have been stationed here two more times (this is our third). My husband proposed to me on Ocean Beach and then again on Sunset Cliffs (when he finally bought the ring).
Anyway, I'm always looking to meet new people and whatnot. If anyone knows of any writers groups here I would love to learn about them. I've wanted to join one for a while now but don't know where to look. lol
I have one book written and my second is on its way (hopefully that will be published by the end of the year! *fingers crossed*)
I can't think of much else to say at the moment....So I guess I'll end here. lol
*hugs* and Namaste!
