In the Beginning.. Reading Order

Until September I had never read a single Discworld book... at the time I had no idea where to start so decided I'd just go for the order that they were released. I've nearly finished book 6 (Wyrd Sisters) and quite enjoy reading them in this order as I like the break between different characters and stories etc.
As simplified as people have attempted to make the complexities of Discworld reading order - nothing seems to achieve the goal. Telling people that skipping the first couple books of a long-running series, a series frequently voted to be essential reading, is enough to throw them for a loop. Saying - "oh, and it's more like 8 different chronologically entwined mini-series" doesn't help.
Anyway - I'm glad to have made the effort, too. Hopefully readership will grow and the exposure the series deserves will be attained. MANY more well-known properties are directly inspired by Discworld (Harry Potter, anyone?) - and a little more knowledge about it could go a long way.
I started reading pratchett this year. I've just started mort. Finished colour of magic, the light fantastic and equal rites this week

Personally I started with The Colour of Magic, super didn't get into it and gave up for a few years and then was eventually enticed back by Mort and fell in love...
