I discovered, many years ago, that most classics need about 100 pages to set the scene. Our book group tends to rely on this rule before we quit the book saying " life is to short to finish the book"
I have almost made it through Jane Erye. It was wonderful up until she left Thornfield and met those other people. Then I hit a reading slump and got bored with it. I am slogging through Huckleberry Finn now. I got bored with it when he met up with Jim and the feuding families made it interesting again but that was short lived and now I am bored again. I am determined to finish it though. I normally give up on a book after a few failed tries but depending on the book I push through. Like 1984, it was so boring and hard to get through but I still enjoyed the story overall. It is the scariest book I have ever read.

Stick with Jane through that bit. It's worth it in the end.
I have finished Alice in Wonderland. It wasn't as good as I expected. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Now I am reading both Huck Finn and Neverending Story.
Huckleberry Finn still isn't capturing my interest but I will not give up.
Yes, I loved Alice when I was a young girl but as an adult I really didn't like it that much. It has iconic/memorable scenes but I didn't find it charming or magical enough. And you're right about Alice being petulant!
If you can add the title rather than the cover, it makes it easy for people reading it on the app
