Theory - Is the Prism someone else entirely? (Spoilers potentially)

Mike So, crazy question here. If you read the glossary, you will find that when defining the prism, Mr. Weeks speaks in absolutes. He uses the pronoun "she" to describe the prism. Why do you think that is? (There is only one Prism a generation. She sense's the balance of the world's magic, can balance the magic, and can split light within herself. Her role is largely ceremonial and religious, not political except for balancing the worlds magic so that wights and catastrophes don't result)

We know that both Gavin and Dazen were of equal power pretty much and could draft all colors. So, what if neither were actually the true prism? If two could be so strong then it's possible more could be equally as strong.

What if the white (a female) is actually Prism in all but title? And she has been keeping everything in balance etc? Dazen states that she would routinely force him to "balance" so she could observe him doing it. What if that's all show and she has been doing it actually, and now that her health is starting to fail everything is going out of balance? What if Dazen doesn't know that he isn't truly a Prism?

I just find it odd to define the Prism in absolutes within the Glossary and it also makes me think of Dazens great grandmother. I wonder if she was actually a Prism.

Mike Thoughts?

Jack Dupp Interesting theory it would seem to fit but at this point in the story line im not ready to speculate on anything.

Alex Mcmaster Interesting theory, but there are a few things it doesn't seem to hold up against. Firstly, a Prism has very unique eyes. Unlike a full spectrum polychrome, a Prism's eyes aren't just all of the colours on the spectrum, but actually prismatic (like looking at white light refracted through a prism) and shifting, moving constantly. That's a big deal, because the two prisms both have those strange eyes, but the white doesn't. She's a blue/green bichrome who hasn't drafted for years, so her blue/green halos are desaturated and washed out, and she never covers her eyes. But all that aside, the main reason I don't think Weeks is hiding anything or hinting at anything with his female pronouns is because in the seven satrapies women are statistically better drafters. More women than men become drafters, they see more colours, and are therefore able to draft well enough to build with, and also they live about 10 years longer, making them much more useful in the long run. A lot of people think this is because they're more beloved of orholam, so where drafting is concerned there's a general gender bias towards women. Hence, when the gender isn't defined, like when you're talking about the title of Lord Prism, a female pronoun is used.

Mike Great response Alex!
