I have many sticky tabs in the book where he talks about different teas that I have in my cupboard. I have never been a particular Darjeeling fan, but I took his suggestion and lowered both the water temperature and brewing time and found that I enjoyed it much more.
I liked this section for what it is. It seems that JNP felt obliged to include a sampling of descriptions of various teas, but it comes across as a list of just his favorites. He is wildly subjective about describing them, which is fine as long as readers know that he is limiting the choices and editorializing. Nowhere does he tell those new to tea that there are more styles than he is describing. That said, I find myself agreeing with most of his opinions, so I appreciate his waxing poetic about some teas and, well, being less than complimentary about others.
