Hi. I joined this group because I love to read. Years ago we turned 1/3 of the hay mow in our barn into a library. Between my husband and I we have well over 1,000 books. Over the past 3 years we started downsizing and have started to disperse our collection. We also donate books each year to our local library during our town's yard sale days for their fundraiser.
I have other hobbies which you can check out on my profile page if interested.
Thinking about things that have influenced my growth I would have to say books, people and experiences. Books have played an integral part in my life. As a child; Black Beauty, Heidi, Just So Stories and even Barbie Goes To Hawaii, where my love of learning surfaced as I tried to learn the Hawaiian language (at age 9 I think). As a young adult I absorbed the works of Wayne Dyer, Norman Vincent Peale, Napolean Hill, Catherine Ponder, Jerry Jampolski, Frijof Capra, Carlos Castenada and Garrison Keillor. Now as an older adult I have broadened my interests considerably.
I have an online (PC) kindle account with a bunch of downloaded books but I still prefer to sit in my chair and hold a book in my hand.
What do I hope to get out of this group? I hope I meet some like minded people that I can have discussions with. And I hope to read what others have to say that can possibly help me with my spiritual growth. And I hope I can offer some insight to help others.
I think that is enough for now. As David said this will probably be updated.
