Xanther sees something like a forest with "eyes" that she "goes to" but the cat doesn't come. She overturns stones and finds blue gunk. Sort of a dream place. Xanther's friends come over to play video games. She beats the others at the games. Meanwhile, the Narcons give a bunch of references to previous Familiar books. The page fades into blue, swirling eye shapes.
Stuck at home while her friends are at Magic Mountain, Xanther gets texts from them and Roxanne. Xanther finds out her sisters accidentally let slip the "twitch" word the family uses for Xanther's epilepsy to Dendish's little sister--this is how he knows about her epilepsy. Freya tries to make up for it saying she'll tell about the wolf statue but Xanther stops here, telling her "you'll say nothing."
