Theme Nominations - February 2017

Ashley, members get to decide which theme by poll after we take nominations, so feel free to suggest one if you like. Otherwise you can wait and join in the voting.

1) chandeleur = crepes = Bretagne. So how about a Celtic theme? Anything set in a Celtic area or related to the history.
2) Carnival made me think of New Orleans so I'll go for New Orleans as my second theme.
New Orleans makes me think of the south, so I think a book set in the American South would be good one to read in February. Theme: books set in the southern U.S. states.

I love your food-related ideas, Camille!
I love your food-related ideas, Camille!

Valentine's Day - lends itself to a romance theme or maybe saints
President's Day - how about history / presidents / politics
Black History month - what about minorities or even slavery
Groundhog Day - what about weather or tradition

Yes, I think it would be wider than just NO.
I take back my theme and we can go with American South.

So far I like all the themes, except Presidents. I live in Canada so we don't get that holiday, and we have a Prime Minister. However, the federal government created a statutory holiday for February and it is called Family Day. Everybody needs a break in the dreary days of February.

So if everyone have a holiday my idea is to read a book (or books) about that holiday. What you guys think?
