Now accepting nominations for February's theme! It's possible to re-nominate a theme that didn't win before, especially if there was a lot of interest in that theme in the polls.

Nominations are open until Saturday, Jan 14th.

Ashley, members get to decide which theme by poll after we take nominations, so feel free to suggest one if you like. Otherwise you can wait and join in the voting.

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) February is the month of Chandeleur and Carnaval (I promise I don't always think about food-related events!). So I have two ideas, let me know if you'd ratuer we only nominate a thread each.

1) chandeleur = crepes = Bretagne. So how about a Celtic theme? Anything set in a Celtic area or related to the history.

2) Carnival made me think of New Orleans so I'll go for New Orleans as my second theme.

New Orleans makes me think of the south, so I think a book set in the American South would be good one to read in February. Theme: books set in the southern U.S. states.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1194 comments There are several other ways to go with February:

Valentine's Day - lends itself to a romance theme or maybe saints

President's Day - how about history / presidents / politics

Black History month - what about minorities or even slavery

Groundhog Day - what about weather or tradition

Yes, I think it would be wider than just NO.
I take back my theme and we can go with American South.

Marianne Jay (lovinglife1957) I love Jennifer's idea - Love or Romance theme. You could do what you did in January and do several mini-challenges with President's Day, Black History month and Ground Hog Day.

Celia (cinbread19) | 50 comments I bought a book for American South so I am ready just in case that is selected. Of course, I can read it anytime!!

So far I like all the themes, except Presidents. I live in Canada so we don't get that holiday, and we have a Prime Minister. However, the federal government created a statutory holiday for February and it is called Family Day. Everybody needs a break in the dreary days of February.

Canada's got the right idea, Rosemarie. We really need a holiday in February!

message 20: by Christine (new)

Christine | 20 comments how about a book that fills your heart with joy

message 21: by Nathalia (new)

Nathalia | 15 comments Everyone have any Holiday in February? In Brazil is the carnival, but I am not sure if is the same carnival in New Orleans haha
So if everyone have a holiday my idea is to read a book (or books) about that holiday. What you guys think?

Based on the poll, our theme will be Valentine's Day (Saints/Romance).
