I like the way the book puts intellect versus stupidity into contention. One thing I want to discuss is what you all think of the "cure" proposed for the coming war. Is that really the answer? (It is the galactic cure for the problem).

I think it's a valid idea. No small point to say we (humans) use of technology sometimes exceeds it's wisdom in using it.
The catch is, would humankind be wiser the second time around?

I didn't mean to be cavalier or such. It's a horrible idea. I think it is given as an extreme example to show what is at stake. This was at the start of the cold war, when nuclear annihilation was <1 hr away.

It's a bad cure because it pits goodness against change, intelligence, and science. In the end, salvation/peace/healing was rebooted by a sensitive person who was not static, stupid, or anti-technology.
I see the seeds of the Star Trek universe in this story, including the idea that peace is possible but must constantly be rebooted.
