Alexus walked through the park, as she usually does, it was quite nice in her mind, it wasn't overly crowded which meant it was usually quite quiet. She walked around, often stopping to smell the roses in the literal sense. She quietly hummed a tune as she walked, Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu, it has remained a favourite of her's for many decades now, it's complex beauty spoke to her.
It was rare in the past for her to have such moments of tranquility, but her self declared hiatus of sorts allowed her to more avidly seek them out. She walked around a bit longer until she came across a young man sitting on a bench reading a book. Alexus had yet to make many connections in Sanlow so she decided to walk towards him and introduce herself. "Hello! I hope I am not being overly disruptive, but I haven't seen you around town, I'm Alexus Fenvaris, who might I ask are you? She asked, tilting her head to side slightly giving him a kind smile.
((Sorry! I was out of the city))
Alexus looked at the man perplexed by the odd introduction. "That was quite the way to introduce yourself!" She chuckled as she tried working out why he may have given so many names. "Well, welcome to the lovely town of Sanlow Creek!" She exclaimed gesturing dramatically to the surrounding area. She retracted her arms from the position and returned to her usually well postured stance. "How has the town been treating you so far?" Alexus asked furrowing slightly. She knew the town wasn't the most luxurious, but it was quiet which she enjoyed and hoped others would as well.
Alexus pursed her lips standing in silence for a moment "Short and sweet answers I suppose..." She muttered to herself, her smile momentarily faltering. "Would you mind if I sat down with you?" Alexus asked hopefully. She hadn't met many people so she thought it would be a good way to help both of them make friends.
Alexus carefully sat down taking up as little space as possible. She noted the accent, where it was from she could not quite pin point, but it was definitely not from here. She clasped her placed on hand on her lap and the other on top before asking, "Where are you from originally?" She continued by saying "You are new here and you seem to have a bit of an accent so I assume it's not here." Alexus looked at him curiously, perhaps he can tell me about the place he came from, it's always nice to learn about new places... she thought.
"It's not that noticeable," She laughed. "I have traveled the world, noticing accents has become a skill of mine at this point. Besides is an endearing trait." Alexus explained finding it funny that he cared whether or not anyone would notice his accent. To her accents were quite common as she has encountered so many in the past "So, what's it like in South Korea?" Alexus asked shifting to face him more. She had never been there yet so she was genuinely curious as to what it was like.
Alexus smiled as she listened to him talk about his home. It seemed to make him happy, which in turn made her happy. "It sounds nice, I might just have to go and visit one day." She exclaimed. "You must really like it there don't you?" she asked knowingly. Her smile lessened as she waited for an answer.
((Sorry for the short response, I'm off to bed))
Alexus sat quietly, he seemed to be in deep thought so she decided it wise to let him have a moment before saying anything. "So, what are you doing here anyway, as nice as it may be here, there isn't much to do." She said with a faint laugh. a simple question, but she was truly curious, the town was small with few major opportunities so for someone to come there had to be some sort of reason. Alexus herself came for the quiet and peacefulness that seemed to be present.
Alexus looked at him perplexed, taking a break she understood, but from fans and cameras? Who exactly was this person she was sitting next to, she herself did not recognize him, but clearly some people do if they are taking photos. "Cameras and fans?" She asked tilting her head to the side. "What exactly is it that you do to earn you fans and make people want to photograph you?" She probed. For all she knew she was sitting next to an actor or famed athlete. She of course was very out of it when it came to the modern world and was lost in her time of quiet.
"An idol hm?" Alexus said as if she were trying to picture him on a stage. "I can see it..." She smiled happily. "Say, I have been asking you questions this whole time." She began thoughtfully. "Do you have any questions for me?" She asked calmly. She pretty much made him spill his life story and didn't tell him much about herself at all.
She took a moment to think about it. "Oh, well I have been many places... let's see... Germany, France, Belgium, Russia, England, Denmark and others, but I suppose that is a start." She responded cheerily. "I have much free time so traveling is just away to use some of it up." Alexus explained, her time was never ending so she could do as she pleases with no issues as to time constraints. Much of the traveling was more so due to her joining a leader, so she would be where ever the greatest ruler was, which changed with every generation.
"Europe?" She asked slightly confused. "It's nice I suppose, lots of places to go and things to see..." She began seeming rather disinterested. "I have been to places other than Europe, but it was just most recently that I was there." She explained. "Sorry to turn this back onto you, but what were you reading?" She asks changing the topic to quell any suspicion.
"Hm, I can read German, perhaps I'll get to reading it at some point..." Alexus noted to herself. She refocused on the conversation, "I'm assuming you like reading, have you heard of Finnegans Wake?" She asked, it was her favourite book, the style of writing may be a bit out of his day though, by a couple hundred year. "Out of every book I have ever read it is my favourite by far!" She exclaimed happily seeming ready to hop up out of her seat. Alexus loved reading so it is only natural that she would be excited by her favourite of all time.
She paused to think of some of the things she had read in the past. "Well, The Art of War by Sun Tzu, it is a revolutionary book, it affected not only war, but business, education and even daily life!" She explained with the same excitement as a child in a candy store. She suddenly becomes rather distanced. "He did however write the first copy in blood..." Alexus said. "None the less I still reccomend the book." She finished calmly.
"I think you captured the essence of it exactly there..." She said quietly. The idea of using blood just to write a book disgusted her, it was unbelievable someone would be so disrespectful as to do that. "What is your favourite book?" Alexus asked him curiously.
Alexus thought for a moment, "I think I have heard the name..." She began. Of course she had heard the name, she was around at the time he wrote each book, but she couldn't exactly go flaunting that around. "He wrote Kafka on the Shore as well right?" She asked trying to recall some of his more recent works. She could read both the Japanese and English copies, she spent a good deal of time there at one point, but it really wasn't really necessary to mention so she left it out.
Well, there went that idea... She thought. "I could help if you'd like, I picked up some Japanese along my travels so it shouldn't be too much of an issue!" Alexus exclaimed smiling brightly at him. "It doesn't hurt to read a good book anyways so no harm done!" She said jovially as she clasped her hands together, she was acting almost childlike at the thought of reading a good book that she hadn't already read twice.
She paused for a moment. "Oh, I misunderstood what you said, my apologies!" She exclaimed her face bright red. "I suppose I was all worked up about reading and just wasn't processing things properly..." She explained. She was extremely embarrassed. normally she was quit eloquently worded, things like that were rare occurrences and she detested them. "Well, I don't suppose we can just pretend that never happened, could we?" She offered awkwardly.
"Thank you..." Alexus muttered under her breath, still somewhat disappointed in herself for not listening more carefully. "Anyways, I do look forward to reading the book!" She exclaimed trying to get back on topic to avert the attention from her mistake. "It would still be nice to talk about it, perhaps we could have a little book club of sorts!" She told him happily.
"Well first of all, it doesn't have to be a proper book club," Alexus explained exasperatedly. "What I meant is that it would just be a conversation about the same types of topics that would be spoken about in a book club." She finished before pausing to think for a moment. "Perhaps we could find a way to set a proper book club at some point though if it interests you." She offered with a tilt of her head.
"It's okay that you haven't done anything like it before, I mean if that was a reason not to people wouldn't do anything, but I suppose if you aren't comfortable with it you don't have to participate..." She said with a sigh. "Anyways, what you do is you share what you found interesting about the book, or something that you disliked and you share that opinion, other people will express their opinion, in the end you often end up with a greater understanding of the book." She explained to him calmly. Last time she had done anything like that was lifetimes ago, in the literal sense, she herself wasn't sure if much had changed, but it seemed rather simple so she didn't see why it would.
"Well, we can talk about it another day, I can tell by your shifting gaze you are disinterested." She said trying to make sure her voice conveyed that she wasn't offended. "I mean, I guess I did interrupt in the first place, so it would only be polite of me to let you finish reading." She explained with a slight smile on her face. She began to feel a bit rude, she forgot that she had originally meant to just make small talk and perhaps find acquaintance with him and not to talk his ear off. "I'll leave you to it!" She exclaimed happily as she stood up, dusting herself off.
"Um, okay then... Well, what shall we talk about now then?" Alexus asked inquisitively. She wasn't sure what to talk about anymore, it seemed the book topic was done with for now and beyond that she wasn't aware of any other common interests. She sat back down placing her hand neatly on her lap. One would think that with over a millennium worth of life experience she would know what to do, but awkward moments will forever be awkward.
((Sorry, I was out of the city))
"Well, I have a garden I tend to, it isn't the biggest I've ever seen, but I take pride in it." She explained. Saying it wasn't the biggest coming from her didn't mean much, she spent much of her time in palatial gardens so most gardens seem minuscule. "Each plant is it's own living thing and I will do my best to make sure they live their lives to the fullest!" She exclaimed, such beliefs were quite important to her and in her opinion no living thing should be harmed, but they should be protected and so that is just what she does.
"Well, I don't expect everyone garden, in the end it all depends on how you feel about it I suppose." she said calmly, but a bit disappointedly as well. It wasn't often she found someone who shared her vivacious love of gardening so it was always a bit of a let down to be told so by another person. "What are your opinions on movies?" Se asked inquisitively, raising an eyebrow while she awaited an answer.
"Personally, I don't watch much of any cinematography..." She told him, it was far beyond her generation, movies to her were like flying cars that can reach light speed would be to most others. "I get rather confused by them, too much happens too quickly..." Alexus explained, she disliked the fast pace and preferred to see things on constant rather than a series of different shots, it was more like real life that way. She couldn't really see the point of it otherwise. "If it has a consistent viewpoint I find them enjoyable though!" She exclaimed so that she didn't come off as too underwhelming.
"Documentaries? I guess so, it all depends on what it's about though." Alexus told him dismissively. She saw little point in watching documentaries, most things in them she already knew most things in them. It wasn't for her to believe that either, living over millennium old means you learn just about everything there is to learn in the world. "Maybe you can tell me about the types of shows you like, I haven't heard of too many of them." She explained politely.
"The Goryeo dynasty?" She asked curiously. "The dynasty incited by king Taejo." She recited. Alexus lived through that time, it wasn't easy to remember as well some others as it was long ago even for her. "Sounds interesting, if it's based on history I might enjoy it as well!" She exclaimed happily. It would have been similar to a recount of her own past in some respect so it did seem like a possibly fun way to remember her past a bit. Her eyes sparkled with excitement of possibly recalling some if the times she still spent with her mother.
Alexus laughed slightly at his excitement over all the shows he liked, it was adorable, almost like listening to a little kid about their favorite toys. "Well, I suppose I'll have to watch a few of them!" She told him, happy that he was being a touch more open. Alexus did find the idea of watching them appealing, she was in no way lying, however she would have to figure out how to use her particular TV first. "So is there anything else you want me to know about all these shows, or perhaps you'd like to tell me about the other shows you told me about?" Alexus asked inquisitively.
"Well, like I said, I can speak Japanese, the others I can catch a few words, but not quite as well." Alexus told him calmly. The others she probably did learn at some point, but just forgot along the way. "You really do know about all these shows." She said rather impressed. Alexus herself wasn't the most commendable memory wise, however it is arguable that she just has more time within to forget, either way to be able to remember so many details was quite a feat in her mind. "You said you were an idol of sorts, have you met any of the actors anywhere?" She asked curiously, surely that would have been enjoyable for him if he were to meet people he would normally only see on TV so it seemed to be a good topic of which to speak about.
Alexus listened carefully to what he was saying. In her experience her own groups were never unpopular, partially because her groups usually consisted of kings queens, presidents and prime ministers. "Perhaps that is the case, but it could just be that you work in different parts of the media industry. Logically there are billions of people in the world so it is more than possible." Alexus told him calmly.
Alexus listened intently, memorizing the facts so that she wouldn't make any mistakes again. It was clear her knowledge on business and media was a bit out dated, she supposed that is what happens when you decide to become independent of all the resources you would normally rely on for such matters. "I see it is like how England and France would interact, but Prussia was never truly relevant." She stated calmly, not thinking of the fact that that reference was far more than outdated. "Because they were both amongst the global superpowers they would be given such opportunities, but Prussia was never in said group of nations and was therefore never introduced to said nations on any formally peaceful occasion." She elaborated, expanding on her previous notion. "I suppose that makes sense." Alexus finished as her mind processed all the information before they moved on
"Anyways we have gotten well off of topic, in any I will make sure to watch some of those shows." She told him giving a kind smile. "So do you have any foods or drinks you like?" Alexus asked calmly. She herself adored trying new foods, she has tried cuisine from around the world, there was no particular country's which food stood above the rest in her mind, but she enjoyed each food, finding a beauty in each one's unique nuances. She did however like tea more than any other food and stuck to a solely plant diet as all Kirins do.
Alexus looked upwards, trying to remember what it was, she recognized the name, but was having difficulty recalling what it was. "Jajangmyeon... The noodles right?" She asked curiously, Alexus had the faintest feeling she had tried it in the past, but she wouldn't be willing to bet money on it. "My personal favourites are between stroopwafel and the durian fruit." She told him politely. One can not ask a question without willingly being able to answer themselves. Most peopl,e wouldn't dare try the durian fruit due to it's horrendous smell, but the stroopwafel was undoubtedly delicious.
Alexus' face lit up when he asked about one of her favourite foods. "Well, basically it's a fancy waffle." She stated, smiling broadly. "The waffle is filled with caramel inside!" She exclaimed as if it were revolutionary. "The way you eat it is that you have a warm drink, and you put the stroopwafel over it so that the caramel melts and then you have a delicious stroopwafel and a drink at the perfect temperature!" Alexus told him jovially, clearly quite engrossed by the idea of the stroopwafel. "It's really a dessert breakfast type thing, but I could eat it for every meal..." She admitted hesitantly.
((That's fine!))
Alexus laughed slightly, "I don't expect everyone to have tried it." She told him kindly. "It isn't very popular in America, in fact, I have not found any in America at all." She explained, disappointed that she couldn't find it there. "It's actually a German food, hence the odd spelling, S-T-R-O-O-P-W-A-F-E-L." She told him spelling out the word afterwards for emphasis. She wasn't sure if he knew how similar German was to English in the way that many of it's words were like peculiar spellings of English words, but it was usually a dead give away.
"I must agree, the food here is quelled to a small selection of bland foods," Alexus began, clearly saddened by the minuscule food pallet she had so far found in America. "Anything beyond those things are either made wrong or are plainly sub par." She explained, quite adamant about the topic. "It's quite limiting culturally, the people here must be rather obtuse as far as their dietary knowledge goes..." She stated, obviously unhappy With it's lack of diversity. "in any case I miss some of the foods I used to be able to have, but alas, 'tis the fate to which I have condemned myself!" She exclaimed in mock depression.
"Well, as far as where people come from yes, but much of it is over powered by the extremely prominent American culture." She explained calmly. "Americans are expected to be devoted to America above all, this makes it so that much of the diverse culture is thriving in the background." Alexus told him. Her opinion on America wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't the worst. Of course she would have differing opinions on it as she remembers the days when something being that far West was thought impossible. "This all becomes obvious when it comes to food, a turning point in all cultures." She finished as though it were a speech on how world hunger must end now.
Alexus closed her eyes for a moment, there were so many good and bad things she could go over when it came to America, but she would have to limit herself. "The origins of the country itself is a big piece of it." She began, recounting the things she remembered from the seventeen hundreds. "America believed it had the right to all land around the world, so really it is a tad entitled." She explained, making several hand gestures for dramatic effect. "Politically it is also rather aggressive so it makes enemies of other countries as well. A truly diverse country would actually be Brazil, it is the most diverse in the world according to some studies!" She exclaimed, clearly perked up at the thought of Brazil.
"Personally I have never been to Brazil myself, but I have met people who have." She sighed, having somehow tuckered herself solely off of ranting about America, she would gladly have gone on longer, but she had supposed a change in topic was well in order. "The people there are supposedly diverse and prominent in their own right." She explained with a broad smile. "The only other countries to even really near it are often ones like Denmark which are famous for being the happiest in the world." Alexus told him very matter of fact-ly.
