Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Oh good Ela - lots of choices - lol

Thanks Robin.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Which Burned Ela? P.C. Cast, or Hopkins or?

Moning.... Yep I'm that behind in the series! Iced just really screwed me over.

Maybe I should just screw it and join Robin? But damn a whole series???

message 11: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Lol, Grey! I don't know either! Hell, I've barely picked out my January book, but I think I'm reading Jezebel after I finish Feversong--squee!!

Fabi--I think she means Moning 'Burned'. Or that's the idea I got.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments ah, ok. I thought that might the one. It didn't pop up when I searched for the book link. I'll look again.

I might dive into Raven Boys in February too. Just for the hell of it. I don't think it's on my tbr but I love the cover and the title. I haven't read the blurb.

I love Jan for picking this theme for Feb. I'll probably read several of these before the month is up.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Grey do you have both on your tbr? Try a few pages of each to see which writing grabs you most.

message 15: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
me too Fabi! maybe I will read both TLHoG and Wolfsong.. but you guys said that TLHoG is a monster of a book, right?

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments 4.05 · Rating Details · 137,737 Ratings for Raven Boys - holy crap! I'm reading this one

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Yup Grey, TLHoG is over 1,000 pages

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments WS is over 400 so not a short one either.

message 19: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments The Raven group - are you committing yourselves to 4 books???

message 20: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I'm not sure yet, but I think I'm going to read Blood Shadows (Blood Curse, #4) by Tessa Dawn. I started the series years ago, and I guess when this one came out, I had joined the 'new adult craze', so I never read it.

I'm reading a book from the Vampire Queen's Servant series by Joey Hill right now, and I didn't realize how much I missed my sexy vamps!

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Ela wrote: "The Raven group - are you committing yourselves to 4 books???"

Not necessarily, but I'm sure that's what's going to happen.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Alright, I added it R.C. It can be easily changed later if you change your mind.

message 23: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Thanks, Fabi! I have so many PnR series that I need to read the 'next one' in that I very well could change my mind.

I need to read the newest Dark Hunter, Immortals After Dark and Lords of the Underworld. And I also need to get caught up on the Fae Chronicles. I am just stuck in Seducing Destiny--have tried to read it 3 times, but I just can't get through it for some reason.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments I never made it to Seducing Destiny. Read the first three and then ... idk, never went back to it. I think it's sitting in my tbr.

message 25: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
Can I just say? you don't have to read Seducing Destiny to read Playing with Monsters. Playing with Monsters is EPIC!!! Soooo amazing! It is actually my TOP book of 2016!

message 26: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
Fabi put me down for TLHoG, but I think I'll probably read both of them. I'm a pretty fast reader... but still 1000 pages will probably take me a bit LOL! Although I do have a midwinter break in the middle of February.

woah! need to get that one up to the top of my tbr

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments So far I've read 4 of ya'lls picks. Several more on my tbr. :-) This will probably be only category I have so much in common with everyone.

message 29: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Thank you, Grey! You're the reason I'm looking so forward to Playing with Monsters. For some reason, I got in my head that PWM was Ristan's story, but now I see it's Lucian's (whoever that is).

Oh, and I see that A Demon's Dark Embrace (The Elite Guards, #1) is Ristan's story. So there are TWO spinoffs from the Fae Chronicles?

I see Lucien shows up at the very end of SD (92%), and I don't remember if he's been in the series at all prior to that?? I just don't want to miss anything.

message 30: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) These all sound so gooooood. Grey, read Gann. It's epic!!! OK, Wolfsong is pretty great too. But Gann......yes yes yes

message 31: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!! SO I WENT BACK AND STARTED BURNED FROM START AND AM SO LOST! WHY IS THE BEGINING AS IF BARRONS IS MEETING MAC FOR THE FIRST TIME????? AM I READING THE RIGHT BOOK??????? I'M SO CONFUSED!

message 32: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Ela--let me look. I downloaded it to my kindle again to have it handy jic I needed to look something up. Just a sec...

message 33: by Nay (last edited Jan 18, 2017 11:45AM) (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Ela--I think that's just a reminder of the scene where Barrons and Mac first met. Because then, the prologue is AFTER that, and it's an excerpt featuring the Unseelie King and Queen, the king's concubine, Cruce, and the Song of Making. Again, I think this is just a reminder. Then chapter 1 begins with the present and Dani.

My guess is that there is just SO much info in these books that KMM is trying to alleviate as much confusion as possible!

And don't forget to check the glossary in the back. I read the entire thing before every book to help refresh my memory of everything.

message 34: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Gotcha! After I posted here I went and saw there was that glossary. Yes! There is just so much information.

message 35: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I just can't get into Burned (view spoiler)

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

Ela, it is the book that shall not be named for a reason.
Didnt she change the beginning, shed written like a short then added it to the book?

Anyway, there is one scene in that book that makes me so angry. Grr. I dont know what percentage it is at, but no one else seemed to comment on it. Its making me tense just thinking of it again, lol.

message 37: by Ela (last edited Jan 25, 2017 08:39AM) (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Oh great! Another book THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED! GRRRRRRR!!!!! And yes, she added some crazy beginning from like book 4, a scene actually....

Did you read the rest of the series bev????

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

No, I haven't.

I don't know where it at but scene that angered me is, (view spoiler)

message 39: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Totally agreed! I can still remember Mac's experience and shudder!!!!!!!!

message 40: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Mine is Kiss of Pride by Sandra Hill.

message 41: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Is it February yet? I just went and purchased Wolfsong. It was on my TBR, but I didn't yet own it. So I'm ready and just wait for the calendar to turn to February!!!

message 42: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Not sure I want to continue with Burn as my February PNR read but then again I really want to finish that series and either love it or bitch with the rest of the disappointed readers.

message 43: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) I lost interest in that series a while ago, although I did flove the first few books. It really went off the boil and I don't think I'm gonna waste my time with Burned. I peeped at your spoiler, and just, no.

message 46: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Bev, Don't ask!!!

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol.
Is she just sending it to everyone?

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Ela, it sounds disgusting.
Thats animal abuse. Eww.

message 49: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) I second that eeeewwwwwwww.

message 50: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Welp, it's officially February and I'm gearing up to start my massively thick sci-fi book Seveneves. I've floved other books by Neal Stephenson but for some reason I've put this one off again and again. At the moment I'm reading quite a long CR recced by Maryse, Juniper Smoke. I'd like to finish that first. Then I'll start Seveneves! I'm leaving for a holiday at the beach in a few days (hey, it's mid summer here) so I'll be able to sit and enjoy the view and read to my heart's content :)

So far this tbr challenge is really good for me. Exaltation of Larks ended up being one of my best January reads, and without the challenge I would probably just have kept putting it off. When is everyone else starting their Feb read? Has anyone changed their mind about what they're going to knock off their tbr this month?
