A large pool is stretched out across part of the grounds, the water glistening under the sunlight. Diving boards are at one end, and the pool is lined with beach chairs.

Darby walked to the pool in a red shirt with a black bikini top and bottoms on. She had on her sunglasses and her caramel brown hair was slightly waved. She started singing to herself as she swam around in the pool.
Andrew was swimming laps in the pool, his light red hair darker in the water. He looked up to see a girl singing to herself while she swam. Her voice was pretty. He started the back stroke so he could listen while he swam, his green swim trunks matching his eyes.
Darby kept on singing a song that she heard while she was getting ready for the day that morning. The radio DJ said it was called Delilah by Florence + The Machine. She looked over at the boy who was also swimming in the pool and smiled.
Andrew recognized the song as well from hearing it this morning. He had been practicing with the batting machine for baseball and the radio was playing. The school seemed to think playing music everywhere made them smarter or something. He reached the end of the pool, did a little underwater flip, and continued.
Darby grinned when he did a little flip underwater. "Wow. That was a great flip you did." She spoke in her British accent with another smile. "I'm Darby by the way." She added quickly. She swam over to the boy and smiled.
Andrew started, sinking underwater for a second before swimming over to the edge and pulling himself out, his muscles from many years of sports showing. "I'm uh Andrew," he told her, maintaining his pretense of shyness.
Darby watched as he came out from under the water. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Andrew." She stated with a smile as she swam over to him. "So, what brings you here?" She asked curiously. She liked seeing everybody's stories because they were so interesting.
Andrew simply told her, "I decided I wanted to be a doctor instead of sports player and made it in."
Darby smiled. "Sweet! I used to play softball, wasn't very good at it. Either way it was still very fun to play." She said as she grabbed her white towel and squeezed the water of of her hair. Then, she sat down by Andrew.
Andrew wasn't that shy, he just wasn't one to burst out talking unless he really liked the person talking. This girl was nice. "Cool, I play baseball," he told her.
Darby's eyes grew wide when he said baseball. "Really? You like baseball? I love baseball! I'm a fan of every single team, but I really love the Oakland A's because my family went to visit the USA and that's the first baseball game we had ever been to." She stated.
Andrew started to relax. This girl was kinda fun to be around. "Awesome!" He exclaimed. "I love the Oakland A's too!"
"Yeah! My father took me and my family when I was seven. I got sick because I ate too many soft pretzels, but it was worth it." Darby chuckled lightly. "Also it is great to meet a fellow A's fan!"
"I haven't tried the cinnamon ones, but I'll have to try them now that you mention it." Darby lightly smiled as she tucked her legs up to her chest. "So, you want to become a doctor?" She asked.
"That's always great. You're parents must be really proud of you." Darby stated as she looked out to the water. "I sing, play instruments, and take a lot of pictures." She lightly chuckled.
Darby nodded as she stuck her hand in the water. She had no idea why she did it at all, but it made her hand feel cooler. "Yeah. It's pretty nice and all. I do really like it here a lot. Just the whole aspect of meeting unique people is brilliant."
Andrew wondered curiously if he was one of those people. "Yeah," he said. He liked not having to say a lot and still getting something out of the conversation. This girl would probably break him and make him start chatting soon.
"It makes me feel a bit safe and calm. I was always one of those weird kids at my old school, which was just an all girls academy." Darby lightly chuckled. "Here I am my own unique human being."
"Weren't you always unique?" Andrew looked at her in surprise. "What makes you think you're more unique now then you ever were?"
"I guess." Darby commented as she blushed a light pink. She also spoke what came to her mind and she didn't really think about things before she said it, but she was working on that. "I guess being around unique people."
"But I would think if anything being around normal people would make you more unique," Andrew replied. He always loved a good discussion/debate.
Darby looked up and smiled. "That is true." She said with a grin. "Everybody who is normal is unique. Like, somebody may really like dolphins and they want to be a marine biologist when they grow up. That's unique."
"But, I'm pretty sure that all of the debate people get to do that kind of stuff. They get to figure things out." Darby stated. She honestly didn't know. "So, you do any extra activities here?"
"Like I said, I do baseball," Andrew told her. "I.. also do some gymnastics. It helps with baseball," he quickly added. Some people thought boys doing gymnastics was weird.
"I think it's cool that to play baseball and gymnastics." Darby stayed with a smile. "I also do gymnastics and swimming." She stated. She hoped that she didn't sounds full of herself. That would be a horrible first impression.
Darby chuckled lightly. "Yeah. It's another one of my favorite things, along with comedy movies, music, and taking selfies." She laughed again with a smile.
"Hmm," Andrew observed. "Well you already know some of my favorite things. Sports, learning, and helping people," he told her.
"Yeah. It seems like I'm always up and doing stuff. Like in those movies and everybody is always up and moving." Darby stated with a smile as she put her hair in a little ponytail.
Andrew, feeling cold, jumped into the water randomly, and on an impulse did a little twist flip out, which ended up with him sprawled on a towel next to Darby. When he caught his breath, he managed to say. "Um good thing the towel was here?" about his graceful defeat.
Darby watched as Andrew did his little trick. Then, she clapped her hands. "Bravo Andrew! That was magnificent." She said with a grin. "Also, maybe it was a good thing that the towel was there."
Andrew sat up, and looked toward Darby. "Thanks," he told her. "Though I might have done better landing on my feet."
"However, that was still a brilliant trick. I would have never been able to pull it off." Darby said with a smile. "I probably would have broke a leg or something."
Andrew shrugged a little. Why had he done the trick? The impulse felt kind of like he wanted to impress her. That was weird.
Darby smiled at Andrew. She wondered if her mouth was going to pop off like in those scary movies, which she knew that it wasn't, but it was going to be scary if it actually did.
Andrew just let the silence stretch on, not knowing what to say. He wanted to dive back into the water and relax, but is that what he wanted? Maybe it wasn't. Maybe he wanted to stay and chat with this girl.
Darby didn't know what to say or do. After all, she had no experience with boys. The only boy she had ever talked to was her brother, but that was completely different. This was another boy that she had met at the academy.
Andrew got up and dragged a beach chair over. He then thought for a second and went back to get another one, placing them side by side. He spread a towel out on way and stretched out, soaking up the sun.
Darby looked over at the beach chairs as she grabbed her towel, laid it on the chair, and sat down. She didn't want to say how great the weather was, because that was a super boring conversation starter. She had never been this shy. She was always super talkative.
Andrew had no such fears about talking about the weather. "It's good tanning weather," he commented. "Hot, hot, and a li'l windy."
When he mentioned the weather, Darby didn't feel so bad when he mentioned the weather. "I have to say that it actually it. Not too hot, but not too cold. Just right." Darby said with a smile.
((When he mentioned the weather when he mentioned the weather haha))Andrew sighed, loving the feeling of the sun soaking into his skin and warming his face. "Did you have any pets before you came here?" he asked randomly, curious. "I considered being a veterinarian instead of doctor because I love animals. I had a Newfoundland and a Standard Poodle back home. Great dogs."
(( oh my gosh that's too funny lol XD ))Darby listened to the question. "I had a hamster before and my family has a little orange tabby cat named Tiger, even though it is a scaredy cat." Darby said with a light laugh. "It would always get caught in the blinds and it would get scared by the squirrels, but we still loved it. Also, that's very cool that you wanted to be a vet." She smiled.
