This is a topic to discuss the importance of the Verdurins and their little clique and how they function in society.

In light of my theory that Great Art can be identified thus: you can go sit in it (I remember, as a child, sitting for hours in Vermeer's "Kitchenmaid", looking up at her pouring that milk (note: I was sort of a fey little kid). Anyway, I must say that I have, many times, sat under the Verdurin's table, biting Mme. Verdurin on the ankle...The "little nucleus" is maddening, right?
The Verdurins' group was one of my favourite parts of ISOLT. The power struggles and bickering reminded me of the modern workplace. A modern-day Proust would find the office a great source of material.

How true when seen in that light. Thanks, Jonathan, for the chuckle.
