I know, right? That changes alot in the series.... atleast, to me. I don't know if I would like Jazz better as a girl. I like him as he is. And then, what's gonna happen with Connie? Is Connie gonna stay a girl or will she become a guy? Are they gonna be just friends or more? Grrrr....so much will be changed! I don't like it.

Or even weirder, that Barry Lyga was ok with the gender change?"I find it so weird! Like it changes the whole dynamic of the series, and it really disheartens me that the potential creators of the show believe that the only way it gets views is the shift the gender to an already progressive on ABC. I find it kind of distasteful, as well. As so much of IHK is built upon Jasper being male. And the whole conditions of the story wouldn't even jell. You know?

I don't think it'll be distasteful, exactly, but I do think it'd be weird. I've gotten so use to reading from the guy's POV and you're right that alot of the relationships/things that happen have to do with Jazz being a boy.... I just really hope the gender change is a rumor and that they keep things the same.

Well I mean they could keep JazzCon with Jazz being a female I mean it's possible. There might be some people who have homophobic freakouts over it though and I don't really know what the network would think about that (although I would really have no problem with it, there could be problems)It's ABC family though that they are known to not make accurate adaptations AT ALL. For example, their Pretty Little Liars series is basically just the same concept but it's gotten to the point where it's so different from the books that you can't even tell what they are doing anymore. (I love the Pretty Little Liars TV series and books (at least the first 8 the rest are kinda stupid- the whole series is but at least the first 8 were a nice fun interesting guilty pleasure read) though, but I can't have a understandable conversation about either with anyone because I mix things up and get people confused).
So yeah if I was an author I would not sell my books to ABC to begin with unless I could be in charge of the direction the TV series would go (I'd go get a degree in movie directing just for this if I had to).
If they want a girl main character (which is fine) maybe they should just give Jazz a twin sister or something. Then they would have to change SOME things without having to change the basis of a lot of the relationships between the characters.
Plus then they can explore and have fun with the father who is a serial killer and son as well as the father who is a serial killer and daughter relationships.
In my opinion, although it's no canonically accurate, it's just the best option possible.

It would be too much like Dexter then, to add a sibling to the mix. The producer or director of Dexter is already involved... What if they made Jazz a girl and made Howie the romantic interest?? And then Connie would be left as the best friend (like in Vampire Diaries with Bonnie). Eventually they would probably want to add in another character just to give Connie a love interest (and therefore keep the show going). I just hope they won't try and drag the show out for as long as possible like the TV creators of Vampire Diaries are doing.

Yeah....I just don't think the books would really work as a TV series. A movie trilogy would have to cut things out, but I think it would just work so much better.
It's like the book The Selection. It's tv series didn't gget picked up because a) the pilot was innacurate and awful and b) the books would just make better movies.
Like some books like Game of Thrones just work better as TV series, probably Harry Potter would've too.
But the short the series, the less there is to put in the show so the less there is substance wise.
Yeah but I Hunt Killers ends up being different from Dexter pretty quickly, but I could see people getting their panties tied up in a knot over it.
Also, I could see I Hunt Killers on tv networks like FOX or MTV (if not the CW) rather than ABC Family.
