Daveleavold I'n on page 150 of this book, and quite enjoying it. But will someone please tell me why twins in literature always have to be identical? Audrey Niffenegger's novel features an identical twin who gives birth to-guess what-identical twins. It's as if some novelists are so tied to this particular literary tradition that they seem unaware that fraternal twins exist. I'm sure that there's a rich fictional seam to be mined for someone who wants to write a book featuring such twins: however, it has, apparently, become so de rigueur in fiction for twins to be identical that I've never read one. If there's a novel with characters who are fraternal twins, please tell me. I'll be happy to read it.

Daveleavold Thanks-I'll do that.

Abby Rose I think twins are identical in books because it works for the mystery needed for certain plots. 13th tale for example wouldn't have worked with fraternal twins.
