Christy Hagen Clements Who, if anyone, do you feel represents The Snow Queen?

Steven I was not convinced The Snow Queen was one of the characters, but represented the corrupting effects of despair, disillusionment, the waning of youthful idealism and youth itself. All the characters were struggling with the issue of faith in themselves, their basic goodness, their worthiness of success in life, their worthiness of true and lasting love. The character of Tyler seemed the one symbolically kidnapped by the Snow Queen and given the chance, his behavior was not only toxic to the others but reliant on toxins.. "snow", in the form of cocaine. He was unable to remove the splinter of ice from his eye and was the tragic figure no one could rescue, while his younger gay brother did indeed progress toward maturity, faith in love and life, and a committed relationship. That was my interpretation anyway; it may or may not be the one intended by the author.

Christy Hagen Clements Excellent interpretation, Steven! Thanks!

Christy Hagen Clements Any of you read, A Visit From the Good Squad by Jennifer Egan? Working on it now and it reminds me a bit of The Snow Queen.
