Jenny (jennytr) | 181 comments I just finished a book that I wouldn't have read had I known that it would contain a plot that having dealt with in RL I don't like to read about it as its now left me totally depressed so I could really do with some suggestions of books that will cheer me up and make me smile/laugh, I enjoy m/f m/m m/m/f books preferably with sex, nothing supernatural or scary.
Thanks in advance :-)

``Laurie (laurielynette) The Nutmeg Tree one of the most hilarious books I've ever read. I'll see if I can remember a more recent book that you might enjoy reading.

One for the Money

Zombieslayer⚡Alienhunter (theslayingisthunter) | 153 comments Hounded

Laugh out loud urban fantasy.

Gil's All Fright Diner

Zany paranormal- protagonists are a rather unfortunate vampire and werewolf, one of whom has sex with a ghost.

Ready Player One

Has some serious bits and the overall story is dramatic but it's got some knee-slappers.

Comic recs:
Scott Pilgrim, Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life

It's Canadian manga, what else do I need to say?

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac: Director's Cut

Funnier than you would think at first glance.

Random (rand0m1s) | 103 comments There's always A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold. No real smut, but a lot of relationship stuff and laugh so hard my sides hurt moments. :)

While you said no supernatural, I still thing that Shelly Laurenston writes totally lol books. She has were-creatures of various types, but no horror. And her's are all "born" were, so there is no getting attacked/bitten involved.

Go Fetch! is one of those funny books that she writes. I mean, how scary can it be, if the h throws a stick and tells the H (who is a werewolf) to "Go Fetch"? Although SHE is a little scary. (She's a genius who is being stalked by the CIA, which wants her to join their team of geeks.)

Brittany | 312 comments I don't know if you like historical romance, but I find the writing of Julie Garwood pretty funny, especially The Gift.
Also Twisted Bond by Emma Hart I found funny at times. And the sterling shores series by C.M. Owens was really funny. It definitely has some serious parts, but the banter between the friends and brothers is pretty awesome.

Aubrey | 27 comments The Only Bush I Trust Is My Own isn't a romance, but it did open my serious-child mind to humor. Of course, it's really an adult book. I don't know why my mom let me read that. I think she regrets it, lol.

It contains intentionally terrible grammar and spelling.

SamSpayedPI | 2348 comments Josh Lanyon's Holmes & Moriarity series, beginning with Somebody Killed His Editor, is a very funny m/m murder mystery series.

Karen | 262 comments I was younger but these two care-free contemporary romances made me crack up!!!

Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella Queen of Babble (Queen of Babble, #1) by Meg Cabot

message 25: by Eva (new)

Eva If you're familiar with The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings but haven't read Bored of the Rings, you should! Similarly, if you've read any of Michael Moorcock's work, you should read his largely self-mocking Legends from the End of Time. Also, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

message 26: by Anusha (new)

Anusha | 12 comments To Die For & Drop Dead Gorgeous by Linda Howard. This is one of my all time favorite books. I've reread these so many times. The heroine's thought process is crazy funny.
High Energy by Dara Joy.
Nobody's Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. The first few chapters are not funny. But later on it is hilarious.
