Here is a short piece of work I wrote. I'm not sure what to classify it as, but please feel free to provide feedback :)

Adriana lay there, silently awaiting her fate. She could still see the looming presence of her captor ingrained in her eyelids. He watched over her like a hawk, stalking its prey and ready to pounce. Adriana could feel her face going pale as she lay in the barren, futuristic room. Her lips were dry as sandpaper as she lay, forced to hear him cackle and scream.

Ooh! This is such a tease!

Thats a paragraph. It is very good! I like the feeling of suspense.
