My mom randomly came up to me and said, "Oh my gosh! You HAVE to read this blurb!"
I read the Maze Runner sieres and became a nerd. Then I read the Percy Jackson series and went to complete fan girl maniac. :)
Harry Potter! I think, I don't really remember :) :p
The Hardy Boys series. Once I started reading them, poof! I became a nerd. :)
Probably Harry Potter, it was the first series that really got me into reading
<--- This. First novel I ever read at 8 years old, and I was hooked. Though I probably didn't start fangirling over books 'til I discovered Tamora Pierce's writings when I was 12. :D Though reading Ranger's Apprentice was a lead up to fangirling.
My mom bought me Harry Potter when I was 9. Before then I wasn't really interested in books. No doubt about that now! Though I only really started reading hardcore when I had an accident and landed up in the hospital for a couple of days a few moths later. ALL I did was read.
How I feel in love with reading was when my teacher actually got me started into reading and that day foward.I feel in love with reading :)
It started with Harry Potter when my mum bought me the SECOND book. I had no idea what I was reading at the time but thank you so much, mum.

I think it was the Percy Jackson books. At first I did not want to read a lot then I read those books and poof! I'm a bookworm/nerd
Honestly, ever since preschool I have loved reading. No joke, I was reading chapter books in kindergarten. Then in second grade I started reading HP, thrid grade Percy Jackson, fifth grade Land of Stories, and then like a thousand series in sixth grade. I am currently in the seventh grade and I have read hundreds of books. Possibly even thousands. I can't remember a time when I didn't read.
I got into the "nerd life" a loooooooooooong time ago. It all started with me going over to my grandparents house to spend the night and time with them. And whenever I came over my grandpa would always bring out the Harry Potter card game and we would play. Then we would always watch the movies. And then of course that lead to the books, and I was hooked! I even got to go to a few midnight premieres of the Harry Potter movies and books. By the way this all happened around age seven and now I am in eighth grade. So I guess you can say I have been a nerd since childhood. This nerd also played Pokémon and have read many other book series such as series of unfortunate events.
My cousin is a BIG nerd and i've always thought he was so cool reading lotr and watching all these different movies and collecting stuff. So i basically just admired him for being a geek and i used to go there to play board games and then eventually i started learning english and was like OH YES NOW I CAN READ LOTR AND GOT AND HP IN ENGLISH THATS SO MUCH COOLER and yeah. now i have 0 friends and i read or watch lotr or got etc on lunch :)) love it tbh, books are really a great distraction (SORRY MY ENGLISH IS SO BAD ITS NOT MY NATIVE LANGUAGE)

Comic books, no questions asked. Reading the (I now realize) paper thin stories over and over until the covers fell off. I lived ina small town, which the local liquor store was the only place with a comic rack. I always went with my allowance, trying to get as many in each crossover as they carried (which wasn't ever very many). Voting for Robin to die was maybe the most guilt ridden part of my 10 year old life, and then discovering that you could buy collections that had EVERY ISSUE of a story in them. It's all been downhill from there. I named my son Grayson for gods sake. Which I got out of the promise to my wife of "no Batman references" in the naming of our son, by arguing the Nightwing has his own title, making the name we chose not a Batman reference, but a Nightwing reference, clearing me of any wrongdoing. Yep, the traditional comic book nerd is still alive and well in this one

Also, you don't have 0 friends, you always have fellow nerds who totally understand you and know exactly what you're talking about ;)

Knowing things that others may not know and I like knowing that information when the people around me do not
My brother called me a dork/nerd when after I watched a show I quickly looked up an actor and wrote down INFORMATION about THE ACTOR. Also my friend called me a nerd because she said "I always had an answer to her questions." She also said I look like a nerd.

To quote Lady Gaga, "baby, I was born this way" lol. My parents are nerds, so of course I'm a nerd :P #nerdgenetics yay!
Hmm...I'm not too sure. I started playing video games when I was 7 years old. Started writing stories when I was 11...I don't remember when I started reading. I feel like I've been reading since before I could remember. Probably the environment I grew up in. I remember my parents used to have some friends over sometimes when I was really little and they played Dungeons and Dragons. Growing up, I had lots of friends who played video games and read books. Some of my best friends introduced me to Dragonlance when I was in middle school.
I remember I first thing that got me into the fantasy genre was watching Disney's Sleeping Beauty. I was awed by Maleficent's dragon form.
I've been a nerd every since...so since I was 7 years old I guess. :P
In my opinion, all nerds are different. There are those nerds that care deeply about punctuation and go all out when reading a text that reads "your" instead of "you're". But then there are those nerds who are socially awkward and spends most of their time on their bed reading or drawing when they could be passing their time doing useful things like strengthening their people skills or trying different hair styles or make up tips (like most girls do) but are too introverted to do so, but when they actually do communicate with people, they end up saying way to much HP references, insults and puns even tho the other person clearly isn't into Harry Potter (those filthily little mudblood), so instead they stay inside with their equally nerds friends online, playing video game, or fangirling over fictional characters way to much for their own good... If you didn't get the hint yet, that description of a nerd was actually referring to someone I know very well *cough cough* me. Ya thats it..

I was recommended Percy Jackson by my cousin. And then the fandom life whispered "run".
I grew up watch X-Files so I think that's what made me fall in love with sci-fi/fantasy/adventure stories like Harry Potter, LOTR, Star Wars, Doctor Who, etc.
Star Wars, Star Trek, X-Files, and War Hammer. Nerds rule :)
