The Carrie Diaries
The book I'm reading is "The Carrie Diaries" By: Candace Bushnell. This book is about a teenage girl named Carrie Bradshaw starting her first real job at being an intern and writer for interview magazine. She's a senior at Castlebury high school. She has 3 best friends that she wouldn't change for the world. The main characters are Carrie of course, her 3 best friends Walt, Mouse, and Maggie. We can't forget the three other main characters that make this book go wild. Sebastian Kydd the love of Carrie's life when they were kids, Tom Bradshaw Carrie's father who's still dealing with carries mother's death last year, and Dorid Bradshaw Carrie's younger sister who's a crazy gothic 13 year old. I'm currently on page on 94 things are starting to heat up.

The characterization in "The Carrie Diaries" affect Carrie in many ways. Carrie was known for being Responsible, respectful, intelligent, and joyous. Every since she's come back in contact with Sebastian she's been deceitful, sneaky, angry, and distant. Her grades are beginning to slip and she's beginning to skip more and more classes everyday. Carrie's letting people influence her to do the wrong thing. She knew this was her senior year and that she needs to make this experience a positive one. Before Sebastian came back into her life she was so focused on graduating and going to college, at the road she's going down I doubt that's going to happen. To be totally honest Sebastian is not a bad person he's just been on his own raising himself for a very long time. One day he'll be able to live up to his potential.
The setting influences this book in a big way. Everything happens in or involves Castlebury high school or it's caused because of that place. Carrie reunites with Sebastian at castlebury. That's also where they met as kids in the summer for swimming lessons in castlebury pool. Carrie has spent the most important 4 years of her life at that school. She had her first kiss in that school. She also had her first heart break in that school by a dumb jock named brad. Sadly to say this is also where Carrie was at when she found out her mother had died. This place has had such a remarkable impact on Carrie's life. It brings many happy memories but many sad as well.
All in all, this book is really intense but mysterious at the same time. I'm enjoying this book so far because it relatable to me. I'm also a teenager in high school who might not always make the right decisions when needed to. The details provided in this book makes it worth reading, it provides suspense every time you turn the page. I hope that Carrie will stop letting the bad influences affect her and get her life together. She's a good person who deserves nothing but the best especially with everything she's been through. I'm also rooting that Sebastian will finally get his life together as well. So far from what I've read only questions that I've came across is How did Carrie's mother die? Why did Sebastian come back to Castlebury? Why did Sebastian leave? Other than those questions this book is wonderful and I look forward to finishing it.
