Cinder 2017 discussion

What moods has the book created for you so far? Why did you feel that way? Was the author trying to create this mood for you? If so, then how did he/she do it? If not, what made you feel this way?

The mood created so far, (for me anyway), is one of tension, suspicion, and restlessness. I felt this way because now that Queen Levana has arrived at the Eastern Commonwealth and knows that Cinder is still alive. That doesn't bode well for Cinder especially because the Queen knows something Cinder doesn't. I believe Melissa Meyer was trying to create the mood of tension because on page 206 in the last two paragraphs Cinder says, "And yet, she hadn't resisted her. Not at first. Gooseflesh covered her arms. Her skin ached where it melded with metal. She ahd not been entirely immune to the glamour, the way shells were supposed to be. Worse still, the Queen had seen her, and she had known."

The mood has created suspicion, nervousness, and scared for Cinder. It made me feel this way because everybody is dying, Cinder is a Lunar and a Cyborg. Also Queen Levana knows Cinder is a Lunar and is alive. I think the author was creating the mood of suspicion. When Cinder says "Wait, Adri sent you?" When they were arresting her to bring her back to her house with Adri. Also Adri kicked her out of the house the day before.

Garmai I agree with you about what you said. I think we are on the right foot with the moods. I also agree with you on what you said about what the author was trying to say about the mood. It will be very exciting to see what happens to Cinder as a cyborg and a lunar especially when Levana knows too!!
