I got a little ahead of myself with this book. I grabbed it to see how the first chapter would feel, and then sat down and read the whole thing. I thought this was an interesting story and I intend on continuing the series. I love P.C. Cast, and I had higher expectations for this book. I'm not sure if it was the addition of her daughter, or if there was a misunderstanding of young adults, but I felt this book was juvenile in many ways. At the same time, as usual, I enjoyed the story line enough to want to see what happens next. I'm hoping it gets better.
(view spoiler)[I felt the romantic relationship between Zoey and Erik lacked passion. It fell flat and didn't seem all that interesting or exciting. I was disappointed that he was so ready to participate in the ceremony at the end, and I'm not sure I trust him. I also don't trust Neferet, but that's kind of obvious because there were too many hints throughout to not doubt her honesty. I don't know if the authors were just attempting to mislead, or if this is leading into the rest of the story. (hide spoiler)]
All in all, I'm looking forward to diving into the next book to see where this story is going.
