After a week of being ill, I'm going to try to get some writing done. :-)

one week before the holidays! I have so much work to do during these holidays! :-// (grading, prepare the opening days at school, planning the exams,...)
What kind of stories or books do you write Karin?

I like to write fantasy. At the moment I'm writing a crime novel with a fantasy twist.

I love all seasons: I love winter when it's really cold, to walk in a freezing weather feels so great! Then coming back home, to drink a mug of hot chocolate or coffee, to eat waffles or pancakes and to read a book curled up in a blanket... (it's exactly what I'm doing right now!)

So tomorrow it's Valentine's Day. Are you planning to do something? Or maybe you don't celebrate it? Maybe curl up with a nice romance novel?
I don't have any plans (yet). My husband and I agreed that we are not going to do anything on the day itself, but we are going to have a nice dinner together on another day. We do like to celebrate it a bit because three years ago he asked me to marry him on Valentine's Day. So romantic ;-)

Nothing special for Valentine's Day for us. We don't celebrate it actually.
Program for this afternoon: to clean the fridge, to grade some papers, to play with my daughters, to go to my shiatsu session and to READ!

Today I'm going to write a little more and hopefully read (a lot). Still waiting for the books I ordered (Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Middlemarch). I've started on the ebook version of Middlemarch but I prefer the feel of real books!

I spent a great day yesterday with my daughters. We went to a place called Le Vaisseau (the ship) where children are invited to experience, create, discover things, nature, etc. They love that place!
Today, we are gooing to learn to use the sewing machine and try to make cushions!

So I have a question for everyone: How much influence does cover-art have on your choice to read a book? Of course the story is the most important, but for me cover-art is the first introduction. In a bookstore I mostly pick up books with a beautiful illustration or nice typography on the cover. I rarely pick up books with a photo on the cover.

So I have a question for everyone: How much i..."
I had a great weekend, Karin! Thanks!
I love book covers! Like you, it's often what makes me buy a book! I have a lesson plan on book covers for my graphic design students. I love talking about book covers!

I even bring my books to work to show them to my students in graphic design and to discuss them!

Tomorrow is World Book Day! Have you prepared something? Will you do something special?

Thanks a lot Shevella!
How are you all doing today? I've just come back from work. It was a looooong day, with exams... I'm exhausted! And it's only the beginning of the week! Still I'm excited cause on Saturday, we have our open day at school... It's such a great day where we can show our students' works and projects!

Saturday sounds like an exciting day for you! My vacation starts this thursday. Looking forward to it! :-)
I was wondering if anyone in this group uses an online library subscription. I live in a small town with a tiny library (most of the books are in Dutch and I rather read in English). So yesterday I found Scribd and I'm absolutely over the moon that I can read the books I want to read but I'm not sure about if I want to have them on my bookshelf. Scribd is not exactly perfect. You can only read 3 books a month and it doesn't have all the books in the world. But still, for me it's wonderful! Anyone else here using Scribd or a similar subscription?

It's a great day indeed, Karin! Every body at school is waiting for it and preparing great things.
Hope you have great holidays!
Know nothing about online library subscription, sorry, Karin.
Happy Hump Day everyone!

There was the open days at my school, so we were really busy preparing, decorating, cooking cakes... That's a really important day for our school!
You can watch the first booktubes of my students on Youtube!

I'm so proud of them! They thought they couldn't read a book in English when we started that project in October! And when I told them they had to make a video to post it on Youtube, they were so scared! But they managed to do it!
