Introduce Yourself
I guess I'll go next, Jay! My name is David and I'm a 21-year-old book blogger, youtube addict, and internet resident. I've been reading or read to my entire life and about four years ago I decided to start a book review blog during my terribly boring English Composition class. I occasionally post writing prompts for one of my favorite genres, Murder Mysteries. I also love reading coming of age, orphan(s) as the main character(s), and anything else that strikes my fancy. Also, my blog, if you want to check it out, is weavingabookingmyweb.blogspot.com or search BookishSpider Reviews! I'm looking forward to some fun readings with the group! Even though I can't get the one for March.
Hey guys! My name is Kaitlyn, and I am an 18 year old BookTuber! My channel is bigscreenbooks, I mostly talk about books, movies, and tv shows, for I am a big fan of pop-culture! I read primarily YA fantasy, sci-fi, and historical fiction. I am currently at university studying Journalism and Public Relations and I hope to work in the publishing industry as a publicist. Im excited to join this group and discuss the books with you guys!BookTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCPd...

Hello hello~ my name is Adrian, I'm a 19 year old nurse-to-be trying to get back into recreational reading. I don't write much nor am I a BookTuber but it's all good. I'm into reading fantasy, horror, and I have a recent interest in philosophy. I'm excited to join this group and take part in book discussions! If anyone cares to follow me all I really have is a personal twitter :)twitter: https://twitter.com/lipstick_medic?la...
Hey there! My name is Christiana, and I'm 20. Currently, I'm working to become a doula or birth assistant, but that goal is still a little ways off. I started reading when I was 12. I struggled reading before that, but my family discovered colored overlays, so since then I've read about 20-60 books a year.
My favorite genres are middle grade fiction, adult and YA fantasy, sci-fi, and others mixed in there. I'm excited about this group! I really enjoy your videos, Jay!
Hi! I'm Makayla. I'm 18 years old, in my last semester of high school then off to college to go into nursing. I don't booktube or bookblog, but I do have a bookstagram (@moonyslibrary) that I post on if I'm feeling like it.I mostly read YA fantasy at the moment but I like thrillers, sci-fi, and I'm interested in getting more into horror :)
Oh, guys, I feel so old now.... I'm in my thirties, wow :( I'm an artist from Greece and I love literature. YA and Fantasy make me feel like I'm your age again - we didn't have such books 15 years ago, only Tolkien. That's why I love these genres.
Hello all!I'm Liene, I studied anthropology and work as a paralegal. I love books, film, and tv - but a good book is easier to find than a good film, imo. I recently started a booktube channel in an effort to reduce the amount of time I spend wearing the ears off of people who don't care about the books I'm reading (or books at all). If you are interested in someone just spewing feels and opinions about literature, my channel is called Liene's Library. I mainly read fantasy and sci-fi, some historical fiction, and an occasional memoir (those are also the genres that I stick to for film and tv). I'm excited to have yet another forum in which to gush about lit!

Books can make you feel like every age, in my opinion! It's one of my favorite ways to remember how life as a child used to be. Lovely "meeting" you, and everyone else! :)
Dimitris wrote: "Thank you so much, David! :)))":) Of course! And I'm intrigued to see some of your art, by the way!

Wow that's so interesting Christiana! I've never heard of coloured overlays, are those like reading lenses for glasses? That's so great that your family discovered them so that you are able to read now! ^_^

Hi Ella! No need to be worried about age, and whether you're a booktuber/blogger or not. Everyone's welcome! :) Also I wouldn't worry about college, haha I didn't have any plans about college until I was like 18!

The overlays are clear plastic colored sheets that you can place over paper, or you can get colored glasses. My struggle was that I had light sensitivity issues, and the color corrected that. It's all really interesting if you ever wanted to look it up. It's called Irlen Syndrome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnyc3...
Hey all! My name is Mariah and I am a 24 year old dispatcher from Ohio who loves reading and talking about books! I general like all different types of books, but lately I have been into fantasy a lot and a little bit of contemporary!
Thank you everyone for introducing yourselves, it's been so neat to get to know about you all! Any newcomers, feel free to still introduce yourself :D I just wanted to ask, does anyone have any discussion ideas as we wait for March?

Hey Guys!My names Brianna I'm a 18 year old book lover. I've been into books since I was 4 years old. As long as I can remember I've always loved it. My dad used to take me to the library every week to get new books and try to expand my knowledge. The habit still hasn't left except now I buy my books haha! I want to be a publicist and photographer. Currently working on my degree for English Literature! I can't wait to read Caraval it's seems so interesting!! I love YA and Fantasy so I'm in love. I'm also a huge gothic romance fan so please let me know if you have any recommendations!
As part of our discussion before my copy of Caraval arrives here in the Southern Balkans, I'd just like to state that I can't wait for the fifth (and final?) instalment to Brent Weeks's Lightbringer Series to be published! I loooove this series so much and I'm sorry it's not very popular here in Goodreads. And to ask Jay - and everyone else of course! - if he has read anything from this Series and if The Night Angel Trilogy is a prerequisite before getting into Lighbringer's fantasy world, or if it's a separate Series for smaller ages. Thank you all.

Personally, I prefer used. If the book's about to fall apart, I love it more, because, to me anyway, it's a sign of a well-enjoyed book. Plus it gives me a restoration project, which I also love doing.
Dimitris wrote: "As part of our discussion before my copy of Caraval arrives here in the Southern Balkans, I'd just like to state that I can't wait for the fifth (and final?) instalment to Brent Weeks's Lightbringe..."I've not even heard of either of those series! I'll have to look them up!
Lightbringer is really a great Series, I've only read the first two books though... unfortunately it's not as well known as other Series... Let's see what Jay thinks too. Maybe I'll wait for the final instalment to be published and read it all again from book one?...I love old books too, I love searching in thrift shops. I usually buy the ones in my country written in Greek second-hand, books are so expensive here, plus quality of new releases had deteriorated so much... paper like thin grayish pulp! But english language books I order online in new condition. :)

I always tend to wait for series to finish, when I'm planning on reading the entire series. I'm not much of a series reader, but once I find one I like I tend to read them entire thing quire quickly.

Yesss I have read The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks and it is one of my favourite "assassin" themed fantasy series. It is definitely not for a younger audience, it is very dark. I actually read it at a younger age when I probably shouldn't have XD But I still reaaaallly enjoyed it. I plan on re-reading them sometime and putting up reviews. But The Lightbringer series I have yet to read! I'm glad to hear you enjoy it though, because I want to read it soon! I own the first two books and I have heard nothing but good things. Brent Weeks is a fantastic author.

Thanks for the reply Jay. I'm glad The Night Angel Trilogy is very dark, I'm adding it immediately :))) And I'm even glader you've heard of The Lightbringer Series! To me, it's the best! Very thick books too. This was also supposed to be a Trilogy, he only expanded it to five books last year and hasn't given a title or release date for the fifth and last instalment - I smell a Martin ;) So I'll start with his first Trilogy first.PS: I totally agree on putting up reviews and ratings for books we love, even if we read them before joining Goodreads. We must help them gain more status :)))
Hey guys! I'm Saied...Trinidadian final year medical student just fumbling through med school and reading everything except textbooks and lectures...truth be told I only really got into reading maybe two-years ago with Hunger Games and since then I'm always "currently-reading" something...I pretty much read anything, depends on my mood I guess, but could never go wrong with YA/Adult Fantasy...looking forward to getting to know you guys and discussing books ofc :D
Hello everyone! My name's Celine, I'm 21 years old and I'm from Belgium. I'm currently working as a software developer since I got my diploma for application development in June. I just recently got back into reading thanks to booktube. Feel free to recommend me books since it's been a while. I really enjoy fantasy, science-fiction, young adult, middle grade and manga.
I also like spending my time watching anime and playing games on my nintendo console. One day I would like to become fluent in Japanese so I started learning it in September, but have been taking a break, but I'm planning to getting back in to it in the near future. :)

I haven't read any manga before, but those other genres are my favorites. A favorite middle grade series for me is the Giver Quartet by Lois Lowry. Each book is good, but taken as a series it's phenomenal.

I've not watched anime nor read any manga in years! I believe my last anime I tried watching was Naruto, under the suggestion of my boyfriend at the time, and that was like 6 years ago. Manga, on the other hand, was like 10 years ago. Not much of a gamer, but I do love watching people play.

Hello everyone! I'm Chandra (also known as Mysteries of Writing because of my YouTube channel). I'm 19 years old and I'm from South Africa. I run a Booktube and Authortube channel which I started about a month ago, so I'm a newbie. Even though I'm new I can already tell that Booktube is full of wonderful people and I'm so glad that I've joined this community. If you're interested in my channel please go check it out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGKQ...
Thank you so much! :D
Hey! I'm Chris, 25YO, from the North east of England, (for anyone interested; I'm specifically from a town called Blyth which is located 20ish miles north of Hadrians Wall and I am therefore a proud Northumbrian and wildling😁).
I have 2 young kids and a hyper Labrador so my reading time is restricted to between work breaks and nappy changes. When I do get a chance to get stuck into a book I lean heavily towards SFF, I love an epic military fantasy or a long series space opera.
I'd like to say thanks to jay for recommending 'legend of Drizzt', I only gave homecoming 3 stars but I am excited to dig into the rest of the series and watch your reviews.
Happy reading ladies and gents!
Chris

Here, I'll go first :) My name is Jay and I'm a 20 year-old student finishing my last year in a 2-year diploma in Writing & Publishing. I plan on getting a job as an editor/website-designer after my diploma, while continuing to work on my own writing projects. I am currently working on a long narrative poem book as well as the first book in a series; my life long dream since I could remember has always been to be an author.
I am also a BookTuber! So if that's something you're interested in feel free to subscribe and check out my videos: https://www.youtube.com/c/CapturedInW...
I will be making a review for each book we read in this group!
As far as reading goes, I generally will read most genres. However, my favourites are fantasy, historical-fiction, Literary Fiction, YA, middle-grade, and sci-fi.
