Hi all, I just finished this book in a day and a half-I didn't want to put it down. No spoilers here- I'm just eager to hear what others think about the literary references, especially those that begin each chapter. And, do you like or dislike A.J. and why?
Happy Reading,
Carol
I LOVED this book! I would say it's the best I have read this year! Carol, I disliked A.J. but at times I didn't because I suspected he may have a touch of Aspberger's or autism. & it's hard to dislike him if that is the case.
I have reserved a copy of this book at my local library. While it is unlikely I will get it this month, I will definitely be reading it in the next several weeks. Excited to see our members excited about this one, looking forward to it!

Hi Becky, I wondered the same thing about Aspberger's. His quirkiness grew on me, and his relationship with Maya gave me reasons to like him.
Haven't been able to get my hands on this one yet. I'm third in line at my library so doesn't look like I'll be reading it this month. Sounds like you guys all enjoyed it.
I found myself enjoying this book. I liked the various chapter introductions to be well chosen and thought out as I would expect from a father figure to a daughter. I liked the character of A.J. fine. He was certainly a man in mourning and that grieving process can certainly change who we are and how we face the world. I can not imagine losing my spouse, especially not at such a young age. He seems to have had a few quirks before the loss of his wife, but they seem to be fitting for a man who immerses himself in books. :)
Thank you for the suggestion, Carol.
