Abigail Adams Academy discussion

I really like reading this book in sections and discussing it. I find that if I just read the book through that I miss thinking about things or trying to make it fit my world specifically.

I agree. However, I don't always get the opportunity to discuss it, but I still find that reading a small section and then moving on is more productive than "getting through it". I have found this to be true for a lot of nonfiction books. I have to fight the urge to just finish it as if it's only something I need to check off my list.

I agree...life is not a race or so I keep telling myself. I worry that if I did not have a group to discuss the books with that I would not get very much out of the books and they would not change me. If the books don't change me in some way that why am I reading them?

I have read the TJEd book several times but it did not really change me until I started talking about it and discussing it with others. Then I started really taking time to make it part of who I am and practice some of the skills.

I find I get something new out of each of the TJEd core books each time I read them. I think it is because my life is evolving, so at different times, I'm ready to learn or apply something new. The first time I read it there were several ideas that I just immediately rejected. Now I read it and say "Yeah, that could really work!"
