Ch7 - Epiny Rocks! At least there's someone not just laying down and taking whatever the magic dishes out. She certainly wields a mean hatchet. At least Lisana seems sympathetic about how the magic uses them all.

She certainly does. Pregant or not, she's kicking butt morally and psychically. I like!

ch8/9 - Not much to tell. Still disliking Olikea but really liking Likari. I do wish we would have gotten a glimpse of the Gernians reaction to the road devastation though. Maybe even through Epiny's visit or through the dream.
Ch 10 - Cool how Nevare can dream walk. Reminds of Skilling and how Fitz would share his daughter's dreams.

hmm, interesting connection, i hadn't thought about that. and he has done it before with Epiny to lisana's tree

I guess I'm becoming impatient, I got very little out of chapter 6, almost started skim reading.Still frustrated with the lack of growth by Nevare then I read this section from chapter 7
"But like Nevare, he has suffered from being incomplete. That can happen when a soul is divided; part becomes impulsive and the other half indecisive. Half can be given to dramatic shows while the other half expresses next to no emotion at all. One acts without thinking; the other thinks without acting."
I guess I can buy that for Nevare he has never been what I would consider a go getter but I have a hard time believing Soldier's Boy wouldn't put up more of a fight to take over.
This also makes it sound like this divided soul issue has occurred quite often in the past if the Speck are that familiar with the symptoms.

It's like a slow buildup to a completely different story when we want some resolution to the other two books. Things start getting interesting in the second half - or maybe the last third.

there is also something totally weird about her relationship to her son. i feel his aunt is playing more of a mother role than she is.
highlight of the chapter though: the 'mad woman' is mad! ^^
