I'm excited to read this and see how it compares to mistborn. It's supposed to be set a couple hundred years later right?

I much prefer the Era 2 Mistborn books to the original trilogy

Era 2 books should be more "fun books" than epic, that's what Brandon intended them to be. I think the original trilogy is truly a masterpiece. Alloy of Law is a great book and I really enjoyed reading it, though it's not as good as any book in the trilogy.

How do we avoid spoilers - should we have deadlines for chapters? Not sure how it works! :D

Just put what chapter you are in and then put the spoilers under a spoiler tag. If you don't know how to do the spoiler tags it shows you how if you click on (some html is ok) which is just above the comment box on the right. You might have to be on the full website to see that, not sure.

I loved the Mistborn trilogy even though the ending sort of broke my heart with the unfairness of it all! Don't know if Era 2 will be able to surpass that as in my opinion the standard is set very high :). I'm eager to see.

would it be possible to move this read ahead with 2 or 3 days? say 23 Feb for instance? I'm in even for The Lions of Al-Rassan and that starts on the 26th also. I'd like to avoid a double read :).

That would be more problematic for me - as I would like to read the book for the Seasonal Reading Challenge that starts on 28th, so I can't read too much of it before that date. However, if everyone's ok about an earlier start, I'll just make my own start a few days later, I don't mind! :D

If You're talking about Ship of Magic by Hobb I'd like to tell you that we have a buddy read now on Farseer trilogy (starting 3rd book next few days) which we will continue with Liveship Traders. Just in case you want to buddy read with us!

Yes, i am talking about Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb. And a buddy read for the Liveship Traders series sounds wonderful. I am about a quarter finished with Ship of Magic, and planned on continuing the series after Alloy of Law.

I'll probably be a day late starting this. I decided to do a reread of the first three books before I started :)

If you don't mind waiting for us Jonathan we'll probably start on the Liveship Traders at the end of March.

lol I'm a fast reader and I'm on a LOA from work right now so I don't have anything stopping me from reading as long as I want.

I should be going back to work in two weeks. I'm going to miss all the free time I've had to read :(

You could still finish it and start late. I'll be a day late and I think two other people said they'd be starting late.

Chapter 1
hmmm.... This book is different! Lords, lawmen, guns, psychos and allomancy. Wonder how it will work out?!

Just finished Chapter 5 and I am already hooked. Allomancy, action, witty dialogues - I love it! Will loose some sleep again tonight but it's fully worth it!

I'm in chapter 3 and so far so good! I love Wayne so far!

funny Wayne - I like him too! He brings charm to the story :).

I have this one in audiobook format and I have to say that Michael Kramer captured the essence of Wayne perfectly. As soon as he started taking I was already laughing.

About to start! I'm excited to see how the world's changed in 300 years :)
