I'm using Freedom Over Me: Eleven Slaves, Their Lives and Dreams Brought to Life by Ashley Bryan for a book share project in my Children's Literature class. I'm really enjoying this book. Mr. Bryan used a bill of sale as the base of this story, and he used poetry to tell the stories of each of the slaves. I think this will be a good book to share with a 3rd or 4th grade class. I think they would be able to enjoy it with some adult assistance. There are several advanced words, but the concepts and ideas are appropriate for a 7-10 year old.

Let's get the discussion going by sharing some favorite read-aloud books used in your classroom. What books engage your students? What books promote great messages while still being entertaining? Any great picture books that work for all grade levels?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Have a great day,
