Margo | 9 comments I have read a book with a strange scene where the powerful controlling hero dragged the heroine, his wife, to the police station and told her he was going to use his influence to put her in jail for a month, to teach her a lesson or make her behave or whatever. She was terrified, she fell on his feet, crying and begging hard, he kept terrorizing her till she lost conscious. Can someone recommend something close? contemporary or historical?
Will really appreciate any suggestions
Thanks

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 445 comments Stormfire Stormfire by Christine Monson by Christine Monson (may God rest her soul!).

In this book, the H abuses the h, but they aren't married when the abuse takes place.

What is the name of the book where H takes his wife to the police station?

Margo | 9 comments Thank you very much Andrea, The book was called Retribution by a an unknown writer called Julia Ban. This scene is very stuck in my mind, I will try Stormfire (seems very good), hope for more recommendations.
Thanks

Vellini | 68 comments Stormfire is great if you're looking for mean heroes.
Here are some suggestions (I'm fond of villain H, and this series from Julia Ban is on my TBR list)
Lemonade Fiendish: A Twisted Fairytale Claiming the Courtesan The Decimation of Mae Born to be Bound All for MaddieThe Conqueror Stolen

Margo | 9 comments Ok, thanks a lot Vellini, going to start with Lemonade, it seems good, read and liked the conqueror. Decimation of Mae doesn't seem to have a good plot and tragic end?
Thanks and hope for more recommendations, I still wonder if there is something where hero terrified heroine and made her beg this way, I found Julia Ban's hero a well plotted jerk.

KatieV | 112 comments In Caress and Conquer the hero makes the heroine beg not to sell her indenture papers to his fiance and then forces her to be his mistress until he marries the evil OW (he never marries the OW). It's an old school train wreck with all sorts of bad behavior by the hero.

message 7: by Margo (new)

Margo | 9 comments Ok, thanks Katiev, going to have a look at this one too

message 8: by Tanna (new)

Tanna (tina__marie) | 4 comments Maybe try Monster by Francette Phal. (No clue how to do a link here)

message 9: by Margo (new)

Margo | 9 comments Ok, thanks Tina. I did read Monster, it was great, a rare dark romance that has a good plot and well written

message 10: by Vellini (new)

Vellini | 68 comments Oh yes, sorry Margo, don't read "Decimation of mae" and "fiendish" if you want HEA, and you can try E.L. Beth, H in her books are extremly violent, I personally read her books out of curiosity and I love antiH but find myself rating them 1star every time

message 11: by Margo (new)

Margo | 9 comments Thanks Vellini going to try E L Beth, why did give Forced marriage 1 star by the way?

message 12: by Vellini (new)

Vellini | 68 comments Well, I really like anti H, but the h must fight back or at least have some dignity and doesn't melt in his arms easily, unfortunatly all h in E.L. Beth books are TSTL, and for forced marriage it was not different the book was too short and there have been no groveling at all

message 13: by Margo (new)

Margo | 9 comments Ah, bad plot then, I don't like it either when all the purpose is showing sub dom scenes without well developed events but still I'm going to try it.

message 14: by Jiha (new)

Jiha | 118 comments Hi, why don't you try Run (Run, #1) by Eve Vaughn . there was a scene where the hero tied the heroine and hurt her (erotic scene) and she kept beginning him to stop till she lost conscious. I think it has a perfect plot.

message 20: by Raji (new)

Raji | 16 comments I suggest Easy Connections (Cathy, #1) by Liz Berry it has all from rape and forced marriage to many other strange scenes...terrible hero

Hi Raji,it's funny you're suggesting this book, because with Jiha we're looking for it, see the topic here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

KatS | 5 comments Lemonade by Nina Pennacchi - I don't read this (or any other groups reading threads consistently) and so this book may have already been suggested and if so, then I am sorry for the repeat. This book fits your request.

This book had one of the most brutal rapes scenes I have ever read in a romance book by the hero that I kept reading. It went on for many pages. The heroine was a virgin and not only did he brutally rape her but he repeatedly strucker her in the face. I have read other books with worse rape scenes but in those books I could not continue to read them. They bothered me too much. It shocked me but despite the rape and the heroes' nasty personalty I felt sorry for him. I could not tell you why because while his childhood was not good other heroes and heroines have worse ones.

Yes Kat this one is marvellous. In fact I suggest it everywhere though I believe not every body's read.

Lauren | 117 comments Thanks Ann for those links. To be honest most BR have a$$hole H treating the h badly.
Personally, I love The Silver Devil and The Flesh and the Devil by Terrsa Denys , definitely great books to read.

Devil's Embrace Secret Songby Catherine Coulter. Most of her books have a badly behaved H and she loves to make her h suffer.

The Copeland Bride by Clsire Kiehl
The Conqueror by Brenda Joyce
Lions and Lace by Meagan Mckinney
Unforgivable by Joanna Chambers -- Not really a BR.
To Have and To Hold by Patrica Gaffney
The Libertine's Wife by Karolyn Cairns

I would definitely try the links Ann provided!

Lauren wrote: "Thanks Ann for those links. To be honest most BR have a$$hole H treating the h badly. "

Yep, that is pretty much BR's thing. They're romance historical but most romance historicals are not BR.

message 29: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 117 comments Oh Courtly Love by Lynn Bartlett the story has three men in live with this h. The H treats her badly at first and then make a d*****bag move that hurts the h.

message 30: by Jiha (new)

Jiha | 118 comments I liked the plot of Julia Ban book though after reading many books after it I wish it was written by another writer with a style like Francette phal. Hope for more suggestions as I like cruel heroes and intense plots.
