The seventh challenge is to read a mystery with a character that has a different background than you. This includes race, sexuality, religion, etc. We'll leave this up to your own personal interpretation. Feel free to discuss the books you've read for this challenge in this thread, but please be considerate and hide anything that might be considered a spoiler. If you decide to review a book that you've read for this challenge, please link your review. Should you be in need of a recommendation for this one, please feel free to ask!

For this challenge I read "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" by Alexander McCall Smith. It is one of my favorite books ever. I love the protagonist Mam Ramotswe. She is funny, caring, and very down to earth. I think that the way the author tied things together was a fun way to end the book. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. Needless to say, I gave it 5 stars.

I keep seeing these books around at library sales and always wondered about them.

For this challenge I read The Good Husband of Zebra Drive which is Book 8 in the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency Series. It was awesome! This series is set in Botswana, Africa.

Oh yes, I would definitely start at the beginning. I'm a big proponent of that. Thanks for the recommendation!

I listened to the audiobook of that one this month too and was surprised by how fun it was. I hadn't realized there was a TV series adaptation, but apparently there is - I'll have to check that out some time.

I had a different book picked out for this particular challenge though. Mine was "The Serenity Murders" from the Turkish Delight series. It's another one that's a bit over the top with the humour, but it mostly worked (I've been told it's actually one of the weakest in the series though).
