While I'm not thrilled with the Watchmen merging with the DCU, I find that claim questionable.

lol Good point, I always found him the comedic sidekick

I might put him in the top ten...

Would that work?
Is it possible to do that without fandom getting out the pitchforks and torches?
Seems an awkward fit.

Not sure. Maybe they are trying to be edgy. I did like the Watchman by itself though.

It can't be a one off, as every other writer will be scrambling to get a chance to use them too, even if you pull an 'Earth 2' with them and put them on their own world.
Do we get team ups?
Can you write the Watchmen like they were just any other super heroes with out fandom freaking out or watering down the concept...?

Currently reading:
Wonder Woman meets the bionic woman
Green Lantern on the Planet of the Apes
Green Hornet meets the Spirit.
I just think that Watchmen occupies such a precise and special place, that treating it like any other property you can just absorb into the DCU is setting them up for some ugliness down the road.

"Much of the buzz coming out of Rebirth focused on the apparent return of Dr. Manhattan, and Johns confirmed that the character would have a key role in Doomsday Clock. “You don’t want to just do a cameo. It’s not a gimmick. I don’t want to have Dr. Manhattan show up for the end of Rebirth, and then he’s in two pages of a book later on.” Johns teased Dr. Manhattan’s arc by contrasting his appearance in Rebirth with the return of Wally West. For Johns, West symbolizes the return of heart and hope to the DC Universe. Whereas: “If there’s one being out there that could mess with time in such a radical way and challenge hope, I just felt like Dr. Manhattan was it.”"
I wonder why Wally West is the one who symbolized hope and heart to the creator.
Courtesy of the Batman team of writer Tom King and artist Jason Fabok, along with The Flash writer Joshua Williamson and artist Howard Porter, the two greatest detectives in the DC Universe unite to unravel the mystery behind a certain blood stained smiley face button stuck in the Batcave wall. However, what begins as a simple investigation soon turns deadly when the secrets of the button prove irresistible to an unwelcome third party – and it’s not who anyone suspects! This is a mystery woven throughout time, and the countdown starts here!
In addition to the standard $2.99 covers on Batman and The Flash in late April and early May, each of the four issues will feature a special $3.99 lenticular cover, all drawn by Jason Fabok. Don’t miss the chance to find out more about the mysteries behind DC REBIRTH when these issues hit your local comics retailer beginning April 19!
The crossover will be taking place in issues #21 and #22 of Batman and The Flash series.
