Mount TBR 2017 discussion

This has been a slow read for me, because I'm currently juggling 7 books at the same time, but I'm quickly catching up to what I already know about this world and this story (since this is a re-read, though it has been years) and now I think I'll go way faster. I'm currently at chapter 7.

I'm only 100 pages left and now I'm remembering things from book 2 and some of the surprises are now pretty obvious to me (I mean, they are in everybody's face!). Now that I put my mind to it, things are speeding up and pretty soon I'll be picking up Eldest.

I'm done with book 1, but I'll start Eldest Monday so I have the weekend to try and plow through some of the other books I'm currently reading and put aside to finish Eragon. I'm almost done with 2 of them, so I might focus on them.

I'm almost half-way through to the book and while I remember younger me thinking it was a little slow, this time around I didn't think so at all. I'm finding that I was right about the author's writing - it's more mature in this second book and the world development is more complex than I thought. I remember what happens towards the end, but I'm excited to get there and read it again.

I'm also behind in this! I'm about 58% or something, and I'm usually reading it on the Kindle app on my phone when I have a break at work, so my pace have slowed down a lot. But I think in another week or so I can finish it!

Now I'm the one behind hahaha I can't get past all that training in Ellesmera, virtually nothing happens except Eragon learning new stuff (and us getting some infodump about the world, the magic and everything about the riders), Arya being kind of bitchy with Eragon and him going after her like a stray puppy. This middle part only picks up the rhythm in Ronan or Nasuada's POV (love ther, btw). The writing and the whole world building is indeed better, and although I know the ending to this one and the plot twist, since I've read it before, I'm still excited for the final scenes and then on to Brisingir (FINALLY!)

I finished Eldest a while ago, but couldn't come here to update. I liked it, you could definitely see Paolini's development as a writer, but pratically half of the book was dedicated to Eragon's training and describing Ellesmera, and him chasing after Arya. It was kind of boring and slow, and nothing was really happening. Roran's and Nasuada's chapters were more exciting, but there were few of them to make up for Eragon's. The final battle and the plot twist at the end were exciting. So far I'm enjoying Brisingir more, I am 1/3 in, so let's see how it progresses.

Ugh,I'm stuck in Brisingr. I'm about halfway through, but I can't seem to get past that. I had a pretty bad reading slump and am only now coming out of it, so I'm trying to read other books to then come back to it and finally finish the series!
