I had no idea how entertaining this satirical novel could be. I really enjoyed it. The author shows us the hypocrisy of the "ruling classes" behind the Swedish society of the time with a cast of characters that include penniless artists, authors, etc. as well as the capitalists.
I really enjoyed it.

It started with a beautiful description of Stockholm & I was disappointed there wasn’t more about the city as the book continued. I liked the cynical descriptions of the work done by civil servants & the way the insurance company was run.
