It's time to think about themes that you'd like to explore in March. I'm not sure what happened to February, but we're running out of days to decide!

Nominations will be open until Thursday, Feb 23rd, and then we'll have a poll through the weekend.

Saint Patrick's Day is in March so I suggest an Irish theme-the country, the authors, things Ireland is famous for, etc.

March is Women's History Month. So I'd like to propose a theme of Women's History: biography, history, historical fiction with strong female characters, memoir & autobiography, women's studies...

Maybe scifi with strong female characters like The Hunger Games or Divergent.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1194 comments I'd like to propose animals as a theme - either books about animals or with animals in the title (since March "comes in like a lion and out like a lamb")

Nathalia | 15 comments I liked the idea about woman's history. With everything going on it is nice to know or to red about it even more!!

I suggest Exploration- It's finally warming up, so now is the time to go explore! This could also work with reading about something you don't know much about.

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) I love all these ideas!

LindaH | 153 comments I'm leaning toward Irish but strong women is a good one.

All themes do sound good, and some can be combined easily- like strong Irish women.
My younger daughter majored in Celtic Studies in university, and I have read some of the books she read for various courses. The women in Ireland were tough- they had no choice.

You spoke too soon about it warming up, Jenny!

How so Ali? It was 75 today lol

Lynnette | 166 comments I like the idea of Women's History. Might I suggest 3?

1~ One Woman, One Vote: Rediscovering the Woman Suffrage Movement
It is a book of short articles from many outstanding women re: women's struggle for equality.

2~ They Went Whistling: Women Wayfarers, Warriors, Runaways & Renegades. By Barbara Holland.

3~ A History of their Own by Anderson & Zinsser
There are 3 volumes of this. The 1st is Women in Europe from Prehistory to the Present. volumes 1& 2 deal with Women in Europe but different time periods. I don't own Vol. 3. Even in America we can appreciate the role Women in Europe played in our history.

To each his own. I particularly liked They went Whistling.

We were in the 60s yesterday, and had some nice and sloppy snow today. Maybe it's on its way to all of you. :)

*whispers* "Send the snow to Brazil"

message 19: by Glennis (new)

Glennis | 172 comments I'm done with weather. I'm in California...and I just happen to live in the town that was evacuated because the spillway broke. So far we've had monumental quantities of rain...hail...snow within 15 miles, and a funnel cloud. I'm done. Just done. It's done a lot for having reading time though!

message 20: by Nathalia (new)

Nathalia | 15 comments haha yes please, at least the cold weather.. Anyway.. The theme will be Woman's history then?
