Theme Nominations - March 2017

Saint Patrick's Day is in March so I suggest an Irish theme-the country, the authors, things Ireland is famous for, etc.
March is Women's History Month. So I'd like to propose a theme of Women's History: biography, history, historical fiction with strong female characters, memoir & autobiography, women's studies...
Maybe scifi with strong female characters like The Hunger Games or Divergent.

I suggest Exploration- It's finally warming up, so now is the time to go explore! This could also work with reading about something you don't know much about.
All themes do sound good, and some can be combined easily- like strong Irish women.
My younger daughter majored in Celtic Studies in university, and I have read some of the books she read for various courses. The women in Ireland were tough- they had no choice.

You spoke too soon about it warming up, Jenny!

1~ One Woman, One Vote: Rediscovering the Woman Suffrage Movement
It is a book of short articles from many outstanding women re: women's struggle for equality.
2~ They Went Whistling: Women Wayfarers, Warriors, Runaways & Renegades. By Barbara Holland.
3~ A History of their Own by Anderson & Zinsser
There are 3 volumes of this. The 1st is Women in Europe from Prehistory to the Present. volumes 1& 2 deal with Women in Europe but different time periods. I don't own Vol. 3. Even in America we can appreciate the role Women in Europe played in our history.
To each his own. I particularly liked They went Whistling.
We were in the 60s yesterday, and had some nice and sloppy snow today. Maybe it's on its way to all of you. :)
