Memoirs on Adversity discussion

I have written a memoir about someone who has overcome great obstacles. It is about Denise who became a pastor and it's called Dancing On My One Ugly Toe Around The Rim Of Hell. I am trying to get it out there. What memoirs have you read? Any that would be similar to mine? Lisa

I have never read anything specifically having to do with a pastor, but I enjoy reading about people who "become something great" out of a time of great adversity. You are welcome to look at my site and read my reviews of all the books I have read. I am constantly looking for new memoirs. I like to read ones that are about "everyday people", not famous people. Your title sounds like one that will peak people's curiosity. Is it already out? I will read it and let you know what I think! What is your full name?? so I can find it. Hi Kendra, Thanks for your support. No, my book isn't out yet. I'm trying to network on line to generate interest in it. If I can get it published, I'll tell you. Hello to the group! This is my first posting. I have published a memoir, Les Pensees Dangereuses, that talks about recovery from depression and a number of related issues. I have another one in edits, You Had to Be There: Three Years of Mayhem and Bad Decisions in the Portland Music Scene, that will be published this fall.

Thanks so much for starting this group; I am fascinated by memoirs (currently reading Brave Girl Eating: A Family's Struggle with Anorexia) and look forward to adding some of your books to my list.

Hi Sharon, Welcome to the group. I have written a memoir called Dancing On My One Ugly Toe Around The Rim of Hell. It is the story of Denise's stuggle to recover from a stroke,14 seizures, and 9 days in a coma that she had when she gave birth to her 7th child. He also had a stroke in the birth process. I met them when I was providing social services to them. The book is about their recovery, how we got to know each other, and she asked me to write the book about recovering from childhood trauma of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. I tried it also before. It works on other links but not this one. However, for a second, I saw my title flash and then it said "please" after it. Maybe someone is sabotaging it. I hope not because I don't know how to fix it.
