Black Renaissance discussion

What did you think first starting the book? Did it hook you right away? Did it take some time to get into? Have you read this before?

Starting off it was slow moving, this is my first time reading a book by Toni Morrison, but I was still very compelled to keep reading. And already I found myself getting slightly attached to each character she introduced.
