Jacki Hi! So I certainly love me some cozies. It seems like I find a lot of series that take place in the South, a good number in New England and a handful in Colorado. I am just looking for something with a different setting Pacific Northwest WA/OR would be great, but I would even settle for good ole Cali..Any suggestions?

Nancy Jarvis (screalwriter) | 153 comments How about good ole Santa Cruz? I write a series with Realtor protagonist Regan McHenry. She and her husband live in Bonny Doon which is filled with redwoods and firs so you can pretend you're in the Pacific Northwest.

Try the "Embroidery Shop" series by Amanda Lee, which is set in Oregon. Also, some of the books in the "Gideon Oliver" series by Aaron Elkins are set on the west coast.

There are a TON of series set in California. Look for books by Kate Carlisle, Juliet Blackwell, Lisa Lutz, Michele Scott, Diane Vallere, Dorothy Howell and then there are books based on the TV series MONK by both Hy Conrad and Lee Goldberg -- as well as book based on PSCYH or CSI.

For more ideas, I suggest browsing the thread for the Read Around the USA challenge and see what people read for various states. '-)

Memo Here's one of my favorites, set in Marin County, CA. by Jacqueline GardnerJacqueline Gardner. The Kate Jasper Mysteries . Most Likely to Die (Kate Jasper, #7) by Jaqueline Girdner , and Murder My Dear, She runs a novelty store in Berkeley but lives in Marin. Loved her books...but I am prejudices...I grew up in Marin County and graduated from UC Berkeley. Still great mysteries. Hope this helps!

Lynn (lynnali) | 524 comments Mary Daheim has two series set in Washington. I can highly recommend the Emma Lord/Alpine Advocate series.

Leslie Budewitz's Spice Shop series is set in Seattle.

Tracy Weber (tracywe) | 345 comments In case you're interested, I also have a series set in Seattle/Pacific NW. http://tracyweberauthor.com/ (The Downward Dog Mystery series.) Books 1, 2, and 4 are in Seattle. Book 3 in the San Juan Islands. And I can vouch for both Mary Daheim and Leslie Budewitz. I love both of their series!

Betty (bettylouise54) | 582 comments Thanks, I have been trying to think of the Spice Series. I have read a couple and the rest of the books are high to want to read. The
Mary Dahiem Apline series is great but I never could get into her Bed&Breakfast series.

Betty (bettylouise54) | 582 comments If you like opera you probably like NOTES FROM HELL by Rachel Bucky. It is set in Seattle.

Tracy Weber (tracywe) | 345 comments I haven't heard of NOTES FROM HELL. I'll have to try it!

Jacki A bunch of these sound really great, looks like i'll be adding another page or to to my "to read" list. Thanks!

Betty (bettylouise54) | 582 comments NOTES FROM HELL is a debut book by the author. She sent it to me for a review. The amount of Seattle opera bother me but the mystery itself was excellent and unusual. The MC is a reporter for the Times.

Kate E. Dyer-Seeley actually has an entire Pacific Northwest series:
Scene of the Climb
Slayed on the Slopes
Silenced in the Surf
First Degree Mudder

I am getting ready to read book #3. They are all excellent books.

These other series also take place in the Pacific Northwest:
Cedar Bay series by Dianne Harman (Oregon)
Stormy Bay series by Angela Pepper (Oregon)
Miss Zukas series by Jo Dereske (Washington)
Whales and Tales series by Kathi Daley (Washington)
Iris Oakley series by Ann Littlewood (Washington)

You will find a TON of cozies located in California, so I am sure you will have no difficulty finding those books. ;-)

Marsha (Fantcfan) | 6 comments Try P. J. Alderman's "Haunting Jordan" and "Phantom River" Both are set in the Pacific Northwest. I lived in Tacoma for awhile. It was one of the most beautiful areas I've ever been.
