Everything here is a spoiler! Enter at your own risk :) This is a chat to discuss readings for the first Witcher book - The Last Wish. Whether you are shocked and outraged by a current chapter and want to vent or just talk about your overall thoughts once you have finished reading it, this is the place to do it!

Pleasantly surprised by this book. Not that I was in anyway expecting it to be bad, but the fact that it was a bunch of mini stories made it very interesting and kind of refreshing.

In having a bunch of mini stories, we were also able to see how Geralt reacts in various situations and allows us to get a good grasp on his thoughts and feelings. While I would have liked to see more about his background, especially the relationship with Vesemir, the little bits it did give us were quite worthwhile like when he referred to Vesemir as his dad <3

I also enjoyed how much Dandelion was in this book. From the small amount of the game series I played, I didn't really feel the 'connection' or the 'friendship' between them. Just seemed like everyone is trying to guilt Geralt one way or another. But in this book, you get to see more of that bond. It felt more like a true friendship between the two and you see that Geralt does look upon Dandelion fondly.

In going back to the stories themselves, for the most part I thought they were very interesting and worth the read. The twist on fairy tales such as Beauty and the Beast or Snow White were quite just... whoa! lol Not the happy bubbly fairy tales we are used to, but realistic to how things are in Geralt's world.

I give this the Nisa two-thumbs up! I'm definitely looking forward to reading book two as it will be another collection of short stories like this.

How did everyone else feel about the book? Were there any particular parts you absolutely loved or hated? What were you thoughts on the collection of mini tales versus a standard chronological story? What was your favorite tale within this book?

SaphaBrate | 2 comments It is a great book to become the right feeling of geralts world and how his world works. The story about calanthe and her daughter pavetta was the first sneak peak of the great story about ciri, and it was the best short story in this book for me. It introduced many important characters and it showed very well a fantasy world that sound more "realistic" as many others i read and saw till yet. 5 stars from me. Thumbs up!
