Hey y'all! Sometime this year I'd like to read the Red Queens War series. If anyone's interested just comment and we'll figure out a schedule :)

I plan on reading PoF this year and maybe the rest of the trilogy/series. I have a few series that I need to complete in addition to Weeks, Williams and Schaffer's books that I'll be reading with the group, so I prefer to avoid planning 3 months ahead.

I have to finish off Broken Empire before I can think about more of Lawrence's works.

I think I'd be interested, maybe. I liked Broken Empire but not overly so and I intended to read Red Sister first and see how much I love that.

Do I have to read Broken Empire before starting on this series? Or can I just jump in with it? I haven't read anything of Lawrence until now.

I'm about 50 pages in and so far I'm enjoying it. It seems like it's a lighter funnier story than Jorgs.

Yeah it's definitely a bit more light-hearted, which I am enjoying. I don't think I prefer a style one way or the other, but I'm happy that there are the two series. They seem to complement each other really well so far.

I haven't read the broken empire, so I can't compare. But I'm really enjoying this so far. I guess I really enjoy light fantasies!

So far what I've learned from Prince of Fools

Jalan is hilarious and also awful.
Snorri is basically a brick wall (In terms of strength not intelligence).
Don't mess with Grandma.

I read it a couple of years ago and I couldn't agree more. I liked the Broken Empire trilogy, but thought this one was even better. Nice review!

Can you read this one without having read broken empire?

I dnf'ed Broken empire during book 2, and am really liking it. There's nods/throwback kind of things to Broken Empire, but I don't think you'd be lost

I haven't read Broken Empire at all and I don't feel lost with the world.

I can't stop smiling this book is so awesome

I loved Jalan in the first book. In the next he vexed me so much that I still haven't finished the series.

Finally finished. only 3.5 for me. It started out really good and then really slowed down for me around the half way mark. kind of disappointed. will still probably read book 2 at some point but maybe not right now.
