Hacen | 883 comments Hey y'all! Sometime this year I'd like to read the Red Queens War series. If anyone's interested just comment and we'll figure out a schedule :)

message 8: by Nimrod (new) - added it

Nimrod Daniel (nimroddaniel) | 171 comments I plan on reading PoF this year and maybe the rest of the trilogy/series. I have a few series that I need to complete in addition to Weeks, Williams and Schaffer's books that I'll be reading with the group, so I prefer to avoid planning 3 months ahead.

Hacen | 883 comments I understood. Hopefully you can join us :)

I have to finish off Broken Empire before I can think about more of Lawrence's works.

Slick | 94 comments This was great!

Seán | 602 comments Adding myself into this - I'm probably going to pick up the trilogy to have on my shelf soon, so I'll try not start too early.

Emily | 306 comments Hi, going to try and jump in on this read, thanks.

message 14: by TS (last edited Apr 05, 2017 09:37PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

TS Chan (tschan) | 159 comments I loved this one. Especially the audiobook narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds. It was perfection!

Hacen | 883 comments Emily wrote: "Hi, going to try and jump in on this read, thanks."

You're welcome to join :)

message 16: by Olivia (new) - added it

Olivia (vinjii) | 1147 comments I think I'd be interested, maybe. I liked Broken Empire but not overly so and I intended to read Red Sister first and see how much I love that.

message 17: by Laura (new) - added it

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Do I have to read Broken Empire before starting on this series? Or can I just jump in with it? I haven't read anything of Lawrence until now.

Emily | 306 comments Laura wrote: "Do I have to read Broken Empire before starting on this series? Or can I just jump in with it? I haven't read anything of Lawrence until now."

I'd like to know the answer to that too Laura. This will be my first Lawrence as well.

No you don't have to.

Hacen | 883 comments I'm going to have to start this a day early because I have another buddy Read starting the next day

message 22: by Dena (new)

Dena Gregoire (dysprosium) | 8 comments I'm jumping in on this buddy read for May and I am also new to the group here :)! Looking forward to the read :).

Hacen | 883 comments Welcome Dena! I'm starting this now if you want to go ahead and start too :)

Seán | 602 comments I'm reading away myself - started a little early as my reading time has been cut for the next while, but I'll hopefully finish within the week and will follow along the discussion here :)

Twila | 142 comments I'll join you guys, I want to read this so bad. I'll start tonight!

message 26: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments I read this already and enjoyed it =]. If you guys go on to book two, I'll definitely join! I'll probably lurk a little bit in this discussion =].

message 27: by Hacen (last edited May 30, 2017 09:18PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Hacen | 883 comments I'm about 50 pages in and so far I'm enjoying it. It seems like it's a lighter funnier story than Jorgs.

Seán | 602 comments Yeah it's definitely a bit more light-hearted, which I am enjoying. I don't think I prefer a style one way or the other, but I'm happy that there are the two series. They seem to complement each other really well so far.

Emily | 306 comments Just started!!! Great first line, lol.

Twila | 142 comments I haven't read the broken empire, so I can't compare. But I'm really enjoying this so far. I guess I really enjoy light fantasies!
Jal is hilarious.

Twila | 142 comments I agree Emily! What a scumbag Jal is, eh? Ha

message 32: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments I honestly like Jalan much more than Jorg haha.

Emily | 306 comments Totally a scumbag, Twila. :p
And everytime Snorri speaks I hear the voice of Rock from The Way of Kings audio book by Sanderson.

Hacen | 883 comments I really enjoyed this!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 stars for me 😁

message 35: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new) - rated it 4 stars

Margret | 3168 comments Mod
Oh hahaha I'd better start this! I forgot about it

Twila | 142 comments I'm stuck at 13%, haven't picked it up in days. I'll really try to read more today!
I'm glad you liked it, Hacen 😊

Emily | 306 comments So far what I've learned from Prince of Fools

Jalan is hilarious and also awful.
Snorri is basically a brick wall (In terms of strength not intelligence).
Don't mess with Grandma.

That is all,
Hope you guys are enjoying it. :)

Seán | 602 comments Just finished, and I absolutely loved it. I actually consider it an improvement on the original trilogy, which I was not expecting at all. Here's a link to my non-spoilery review if you want to check it out.

I read it a couple of years ago and I couldn't agree more. I liked the Broken Empire trilogy, but thought this one was even better. Nice review!

message 40: by Niki Hawkes, I made it past GOTM... barely (new)

Can you read this one without having read broken empire?

message 41: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new) - rated it 4 stars

Margret | 3168 comments Mod
I dnf'ed Broken empire during book 2, and am really liking it. There's nods/throwback kind of things to Broken Empire, but I don't think you'd be lost

Twila | 142 comments I haven't read Broken Empire at all and I don't feel lost with the world.

Petrik (petrikleo) | 1546 comments I'm going to read this one next week! glad to see everyone's enjoying it! :)

I can't stop smiling this book is so awesome

Mayim de Vries | 2948 comments I loved Jalan in the first book. In the next he vexed me so much that I still haven't finished the series.

Emily | 306 comments Finally finished. only 3.5 for me. It started out really good and then really slowed down for me around the half way mark. kind of disappointed. will still probably read book 2 at some point but maybe not right now.
